ومهفهف لما اكتست وجناته

1. And he lightly sways to what his branches gained,
His garments hemmed with blossoming pearls.

١. وَمُهَفهَفٍ لِما اِكتَسَت وَجَناتُهُ
حُلَلَ المَلاحَةِ طُرِّزَت بِعَذارِهِ

2. When I prevailed over his great disdain,
My heart stood by me against his whirls.

٢. لَما اِنتُصِرتُ عَلى عَظيمِ جَفائِهِ
بِالقَلبِ كانَ القَلبُ مِن أَنصارِهِ

3. His face's beauty seemed complete, as though
The crescent gleamed with light from his curls.

٣. كَمُلَت مَحاسِنُ وَجهِهِ فَكَأَنَّما اِق
تَبَسَ الهِلالُ النورَ مِن أَنوارِهِ

4. And when my heart insisted on his disdain,
Passion said I must yield to his twirls.

٤. وَإِذا أَلَحَّ القَلبُ في هِجرانهِ
قالَ الهَوى لا بُدَّ مِنهُ فَدارِهِ
