١. يُعَزَّى الْفَتَى فِي كُلِّ رُزْءٍ وَلَيْتَهُ
يُعَزَّى عَلَى فَقْدِ الشَّبَابِ الْمُزَايِلِ
2. How many a loss is endured through substitution,
While another is nursed on fantasy and devices.
٢. فَكَمْ بَيْنَ مَفْقُودٍ يُعاشُ بِغَيْرِهِ
وَآخَرَ يُزْرِي بِالْهَوَى وَالْوَسَائِلِ
3. When a man weeps not for his youth, what then
Grieves him, for youth is the most precious that departs.
٣. إِذَا الْمَرْءُ لَمْ يَبْكِ الشَّبَابَ فَمَا الَّذِي
يَعِزُّ عَلَيْهِ وَهوَ أَكْرَمُ رَاحِلِ
