1. Drink before the cooing of the dove
For nothing dispels cares like wine
١. أَدِرْهَا قَبْلَ تَغْرِيدِ الْحَمَامَهْ
فَمَا يَنْفِي الْهُمُومَ سِوَى الْمُدَامَهْ
2. When it courses a free spirit
It wipes away gloom and tedium
٢. مُعَتَّقَةً إِذَا سَلَكَتْ ضَمِيراً
مَحَتْ عَنْهُ الْكَلالَةَ وَالسَّآمَهْ
3. Have you not seen how the valleys
Bear signs in every direction?
٣. أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ أَصْبَحَتِ الْغَوَادِي
لَهَا فِي كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ عَلامَهْ
4. How much in the earth is a brook's course
And how much in the sky is a cloud's track?
٤. فَكَمْ فِي الأَرْضِ مِنْ مَجْرَى غَدِيرٍ
وَكَمْ فِي الْجَوِّ مِنْ مَسْرَى غَمَامَهْ
5. So seize the choicest of days and profit
By its sweetness, fear no blame
٥. فَبَادِرْ صَفْوَةَ الأَيَّامِ تَغْنَمْ
لَذَاذَتَهَا وَلا تَخْشَ الْمَلامَهْ
6. And grieve not over what is past
For grief but mars tranquility
٦. وَلا تَحْزَنْ عَلَى شَيءٍ تَوَلَّى
فَإِنَّ الْحُزْنَ مِقْرَاضُ السَّلامَهْ
