1. A friend who was no true friend
Morals like a rotten gut
١. وَصَاحِبٍ لا كَانَ مِنْ صَاحِبٍ
أَخْلاقُهُ كَالْمِعْدَةِ الْفَاسِدَهْ
2. The ugliest trait among people
Yet thinks himself perfect
٢. أَقْبَحُ مَا فِي النَّاسِ مِنْ خَصْلَةٍ
أَحْسَنُ مَا فِي نَفْسِهِ الْجَامِدَهْ
3. If he was shaped by his nature
He'd be a lurking scorpion
٣. لَوْ أَنَّهُ صُوِّرَ مِنْ طَبْعِهِ
كَانَ لَعَمْرِي عَقْرَباً رَاصِدَهْ
4. Fit only for slapping, to avoid being seen
Among people, useless
٤. يَصْلُحُ لِلصَّفْعِ لِكَيْلا يُرَى
فِي عَدَدِ النَّاسِ بِلا فَائِدَهْ
5. Weak yet acts imperiously
Destroying at the table he sits
٥. يَغْلِبُهُ الضَّعْفُ وَلَكِنَّهُ
يَهْدِمُ فِي قَعْدَتِهِ الْمَائِدَهْ
6. Watching the platter ruthlessly
Like a preying cat
٦. يُرَاقِبُ الصَّحْنَ عَلَى غَفْلَةٍ
مِنْ أَهْلِهِ كَالْهِرَّةِ الصَّائِدَهْ
7. His claws like pincers
His jaws a millstone
٧. كَأَنَّمَا أُظْفُورُهُ مِنْجَلٌ
وَبَيْنَ فَكَّيْهِ رَحىً راعِدَهْ
8. Food in his throat
Like an ostrich bolting greens
٨. كَأَنَّمَا الْبَطَّةُ فِي حَلْقِهِ
نَعَامَةٌ فِي سَبْسَبٍ شَارِدَهْ
9. You hear him loudly gulping
Like camels on a windy night
٩. تَسْمَعُ لِلْبَلْعِ نَقِيقاً كَمَا
نَقَّتْ ضَفَادِي لَيْلَةٍ رَاكِدَهْ
10. His breath like bellows
Flames blazing in his ribs
١٠. كَأَنَّمَا أَنْفَاسُهُ حَرْجَفٌ
وَبَيْنَ جَنْبَيْهِ لَظىً وَاقِدَهْ
11. Woe to the womb that bore him
Knowing the wretch within
١١. وَيْلُمِّهِ إِذْ مَخَضَتْ هَلْ دَرَتْ
أَنَّ الرَّدَى فِي بَطْنِهَا الْعَاقِدَهْ
12. Cursed be that ugly thing
From diseased seed in withered womb
١٢. تَبَّاً لَهَا شَنْعَاءَ جَاءَتْ بِهِ
مِنْ لَقْحَةٍ فِي فَقْحَةٍ كَاسِدَةْ
13. No mercy on the father
Who saddled the world, no mother
١٣. لا رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى وَالِدٍ
غَمَّ بِهِ الدُّنْيَا ولا وَالِدَهْ
