1. Rise, for night's pillar slants now to the west,
And the Maghrib's troops have opened ranks.
١. قُمْ هَاتِها واللَّيْلُ مَالَ عَمُودُهُ
لِلْغَرْبِ وانْتَشَرَتْ جُنُودُ الْمَغْرِبِ
2. The new moon gleams on the horizon's rim
Like a Nūn delicately traced in gold.
٢. وَبَدَا الْهِلالُ عَلَى الأَصِيلِ كَأَنَّهُ
نُونٌ مُفَضَّضَةٌ بِرَقٍّ مُذْهَبِ
