1. Oh, the heart's agony from the gazelles of hidden vales
The breeze grows drunk from their glances
١. وَا لَوْعَةَ الْقَلْبِ مِنْ غِزْلانِ أَخْبِيَةٍ
تَكَادُ تَسْكَرُ مِنْ أَحْدَاقِهَا الرَّاحُ
2. From every banquet like a branch she has gathered
Marvels, all of them manifest in beauty
٢. مِنْ كُلِّ مَائِسَةٍ كَالْغُصْنِ قَدْ جَمَعَتْ
بَدَائِعَاً كُلُّها لِلْحُسْنِ أَوْضَاحُ
3. So the eye is a narcissus and the hair hyacinth
And the breast a pomegranate and the cheek an apple
٣. فَالْعَيْنُ نَرْجِسَةٌ والشَّعْرُ سَوْسَنَةٌ
والنَّهْدُ رُمَّانَةٌ والْخَدُّ تُفَّاحُ
