1. Love has a meaning beyond comprehension,
A description beyond imagery.
١. الْحُبُّ مَعْنَىً لا يُحِيطُ بِسِرِّهِ
وَصْفٌ وَلا يَجْرِي عَلَيْهِ مِثَالُ
2. Like electricity, grasping it is difficult,
Its breeze flows rapidly.
٢. كَالْكَهْرَبَاءَةِ دَرْكُهَا مُتَعَذِّرٌ
وَنَسِيمُهَا مَتَحَدِّرٌ سَيَّالُ
3. Thus too are spirits, their actions appear,
Yet their mystery remains concealed.
٣. وَكَذَلِكَ الأَرْوَاحُ يَظْهَرُ فِعْلُهَا
وَيَغِيبُ عَنَّا سِرُّهَا الْفَعَّالُ
4. Wisdom has been possessed by obscurity,
No words in the world encompass its secrets.
٤. حِكَمٌ تَمَلَّكَهَا الْغُمُوضُ فَلَمْ يُحِطْ
بِرُمُوزِهَا فِي الْعَالَمِينَ مَقَالُ
