1. Time, if articulate, would render me enlightened,
And give my ignorance knowledge to become learned.

2. He who ordained events, ordained them equally,
To Him sweet and bitter are the same.

3. I have seen there is no estrangement that compels
The bitterness of fate, nor any refuge that protects.

4. How many sedentary live luxuriously,
Amazing compared to the persevering strivers deprived.

5. I see endeavors as swords that raced
To the destiny of victory or defeat.

6. And how many were elevated by their high ambition
Only for the lowly to envy and oppose.

7. Most agonizing are the benevolent
Struggling for the criminals to blame them.

8. They meet the envious deaf to the chime of loyalty,
And verily he moans to the compassionate.

9. Say to the tyrants clenching their fists in cruelty
You will see who those arrows will strike.

10. You schemed but the Prophet saw your flaws
A gray hair divinely inspired of your misdeeds.

11. You resorted to vice hoping to succeed
Never expecting to be repealed and severed.

12. You tossed piety behind your backs
So the pious became your despised superior.

13. Muhammad’s patience was not to renege
His covenant due to the meddling of the dubious.

14. A king whose beauty the eyes yearned to see
Displayed by time with its darkness removed.

15. A people whose chests are filled with his awe
Overwhelm the sights from the radiance of his face.

16. A forehead whose light takes flight
Suffices over both luminous moons for one who perceives.

17. A prayer that if fashioned as a crown
Adorned with stars on both sides for the sun yearned.

18. His attributes brought the gardens to tears, reviving,
Languid over them, they began to smile.

19. With destiny remote, with humility intimate,
With cheerfulness sunny, with dew clouded.

20. Brazen on the day of battle, facing it,
And evil retreating grim-faced against it.

21. Might like the collision of swords before it,
Generosity like the freely giving, freely blooming.

22. My soul is your ransom, O king whom
All kings submit to your highest glory.

23. You surpassed all, none objecting,
That you became their supreme paragon.

24. No shame that the mother of glory in the prime of life
Be associated with you, her peer barren.

So resolve all incitements of evil therein

26. For the disease spreads if left unrestrained.
How many smoldering coals grew until

27. Becoming volcanoes that crush everything.
Likewise torrents swell only

28. Beginning with drops then downpours bursting forth.
Wealth makes people transgress their bounds

29. So understand, for you are most comprehending.
Remember your father’s example at the start

30. Of his rule regarding every accused.
He left none whom he expected evil

31. The world acquiesced to him and the delicacies savored.
Why then shirk from the likes of his ways

32. When you are firmer in crises and more sagacious?
Your resolute side that does not bend,

33. Your sharp sword that does not dull.
The situation is ample, the heights staunched,

34. Glory lofty, and steadfastness resolute.
Leave people no place for doubt

35. And be decisive, for the likes of you is most decisive in grandeur.
A poet of Kindah in times past said

36. A verse over the passage of nights known.
High nobility is never safe from harm

37. Until its sides are blood-spattered.
You roared the roaring of one deterring,

38. Frightening with it the mangy hyena.
Oh would that I knew, will their fool return

39. Or did the barking deter that glutton?
From you belongs to me, so let the envious waste away seething

40. Over the charm of rank and most honored status.
Periods of fortune cease not being drained

41. Youth passes as every fortune declines.
My composing for you was never demeaning

42. No, nor were my established ways concealed.
Rather, most prudent preserving and truly nurturing

43. Bonds strengthened, never torn.
So may gratitude bursting and spreading

44. From me, exchanged within circles, tear through the earth.
A scent, musk in its purity, pleasing

45. To the smell of minds, its aroma inhaled.
When the branches of favors hang low

46. Praise is their murmuring melody.
Pride is a mouth praising your protecting

47. Glory is a standard from your loyalty.
So enjoy eternity, for you are its beauty,
