أَم لِشاكيكَ طَبيبُ
2. O near one when distant,
Present when absent.
٢. يا قَريباً حينَ يَنأى
حاضِراً حينَ يَغيبُ
3. How can a lover endure
When his beloved is aloof?
٣. كَيفَ يَسلوكَ مُحِبٌّ
زانَهُ مِنكَ حَبيبُ
4. You are but a breeze
That hearts receive.
٤. إِنَّما أَنتَ نَسيمٌ
تَتَلَقّاهُ القُلوبُ
5. We have known with conjectural knowledge
Which is undoubtedly right,
٥. قَد عَلِمنا عِلمَ ظَنٍّ
هُوَ لا شَكَّ مُصيبُ
6. That the secret of beauty lies
In what those hearts conceal.
٦. أَنَّ سِرَّ الحُسنِ مِمّا
أَضمَرَت تِلكَ الجُيوبُ
