1. You spurn me and deny me your scripture,
Though in truth I've done no wrong nor avoided you.
١. أَتَهجُرُني وَتَغصِبُني كِتابي
وَما في الحَقِّ غَصبي وَاجتِنابي
2. Is it fair that I profess my love so plainly
While you treat me cruelly with torment?
٢. أَيَجمُلُ أَن أُبيحَكَ مَحضَ وُدّي
وَأَنتَ تَسومُني سوءَ العَذابِ
3. My life for you! How oft you turn from me,
How oft I call you from behind the veil.
٣. فَدَيتُكَ كَم تَغُضُّ الطَرفَ دوني
وَكَم أَدعوكَ مِن خَلفِ الحِجابِ
4. How far now is your heart that once was near,
Like grey hair on a youthful head.
٤. وَكَم لي مِن فُؤادِكَ بَعدَ قُربٍ
مَكانَ الشَيبِ في نَفسِ الكَعابِ
5. Reconsider your mistreated servant -
Thus you'll reap plentiful reward.
٥. أَعِد في عَبدِكَ المَظلومِ رَأياً
تَنالُ بِهِ الجَزيلَ مِنَ الثَوابِ
6. And if you're miserly toward him, many a day
You've granted him your pleasure without account.
٦. وَإِن تَبخَل عَلَيهِ فَرُبَّ دَهرٍ
وَهَبتَ لَهُ رِضاكَ بِلا حِسابِ
