1. With branches leaning down in gentle shade
Trailing long skirts of shadow o’er the glade

2. The boughs bend kindly over those who rest
Beneath, as mothers o’er a babe caressed,

3. The vines sing softly from the arbors where
A loosened scarf waves in the scented air

4. Pasture and water here the flocks are blessed
O paradise beneath these bowers confessed!
