1. Revelation descended upon him
From the heavens of imagination

2. In the darkness
And its sides were illuminated

3. By the goddess of lawful magic
In speech

4. He fell crying when the ecstasies were revealed to him
He had perceived the secret of existence

5. And the meanings of nothingness
In his swoon

6. So he recited a verse of poem
From the springs of wisdom

7. In his awakening
Its verses were cut by sobs and sighs

8. The curtains and veils
Were uncovered before his eyes

9. And there flowed from his lips
What was not in books

10. Of lines
Sublime images he represented with words

11. He remained aspiring to the sky
And the redness of the horizon

12. Saying:
This is the vigil of the martyrs

13. A witness on the horizon
That does not fade

14. Upon them the eyes of the clouds shed tears
The breezes of the wind, grieved

15. Do not cease wailing
In anguish

16. And the flash of lightning at night
Is an ember that flares up

17. In its bosom
Or a heart between its sides of violent passions

18. Thunder triumphed and said:
This is the screaming of the wretched

19. So show mercy
And night deepened and lengthened

20. It is the injustice of the oppressors
So have pity

21. And it was unveiled, O night: the thunder has become screams at nightfall
He turned his eyes to a meadow

22. With a radiant and handsome name
And wept

23. Saying, and the eyelid was frowning
Destruction and ruin came upon us

24. to perish
Its height and the heart from it is a branch with flowers

25. A palm held a palm
And cheek met cheek

26. In the dust
Oh what an embrace

27. And flaming ribs
In turmoil

28. And souls that have flourished, from which fragrances emanate
He took the flute and approached

29. Then put his mouth to it and
Blew into it his spirit

30. Melting the soul into a melody
And slipping from the body

31. To comfort it
Thus the breaths of meaning depart as regrets
