1. Those who shun honor
Syria disowns the disgrace they have committed

2. They almost ruined it before they ruined Egypt, so
Don't blame it for a sin it avenges

3. How can one blame the wounded for the wounds?
This is injustice in judgments and tyranny

4. The blame of time, so the ancestors curse them
And the future will be shamed by what they brought

5. They grew up selling consciences, rather
They shared humiliation inherited while they were embryos

6. Alas, their dwellings were not raised with glory
But they were soaked in the blood of humiliation

7. By God what they attained was not the heritage of fathers when
From the spring of dishonor before today they drank

8. Their bellies took them to meadows of shame
Like donkeys they gallop when fodder is brought near

9. Those sitting safely while journeys and books
Spread their insults, and they are

10. Masked with curses wherever found
The hour will come when regret

11. Will reach them for what their hands earned
"I seek God's forgiveness; had I made them

12. My creation would turn me away from them"
Brothers! And we have a share in good deeds

13. But we admit you preceded us
Kinship and language refuse

14. Anything but concord, so how can we differ today?
Hardships and sorrows bring us together

15. As do hopes, anxiety, and the goal
By God, we have not neglected any effort in our cause

16. Though time in it persists in tyranny
There is tightness in the chest, and sadness among the loved ones

17. And in the tongue and its expression are twists
What the injustice of time has destroyed for us

18. Did the sun sin when eclipses befell it?
Despair cannot destroy our hopes

19. The blood of youth foils it
In us, even if the slanderers attain their desires

20. Those who never burdened themselves with love of country
It is the habit of youth for tears to flow, and they

21. Shed their blood for love of their homelands
How many a lad was cherished by bliss

22. In every state, in luxury and comfort
He met his fate for Damascus, when it

23. Cast him from family, compelled he intended exile
The parting was signaled by waving its banner

24. And the meadow wept for his intention
Neither harm dissuades him from love of Syria

25. Nor the humiliation of a foreigner, tribulation, or want
Wherever he was, Syria was his direction of prayer

26. As yearning and fervor turned him there
I swear by the blood a sacrifice for us and you

27. And is there beyond blood a pact we swore?
We will keep our affection sincere to you

28. In our love there is no rancor or excess
The sincere emotions of love and affection to you

29. In every heart turn towards the Nile valley
We will share adversity with you, for when

30. Lifted from you, adversity from us too departs
As for the first ones, they strewed flowers in your midst

31. While above them from our disposal gloom poured
We disavow the shame their hands presented

32. With the living conscience and honor as witnesses
