And I was told, O Dhu Dhar', son of Jud'an provoked me,

2. Yet verily with Dhu Dhar', son of Jud'an, I am familiar.
Has it deluded you that your belly has a pouch,

3. And that you suffice to feed Makkah?
You are content that the useless be guided to you for reform,

4. Yet you frown that sublime matters be harvested from you.
I refused that souls are humiliated,

5. And that dwellings neglect the duty of hospitality,
And that judges are no judges while you

6. Are birds of ignorance under whom the water is constant.
And were it not for honorable men from ‘Ali

7. You would have stolen the clothes of the House while it stands.
And were it not for the Bakr clan and the sharpness of their swords
