1. Quraysh came to us with their abundant throng
Against them stood the Merciful as helper and defender

2. When we drew near to the tents and their people
Doubt befell us with the coming of night

3. Morning came to us and around its banner
Were battalions it fears, the mighty aggressor

4. Morning fell upon them, yet we could not overcome them
As if they were protected in Mashrifiyyah

5. And their horses did not cease raging and vaunting
While the first and last of them escaped

6. From dawn until night came and the darkness intensified
The evil of a day whose harm spread

7. And this continued until Hawazin turned back
And Sulaim and Amir retreated

8. Quraysh, whose blades could split rock
When the eternal covenants enfeebled people

9. Quraysh, if we had prevailed over them
It would have cured what was in our hearts, though hatred appeared
