1. In both Easts your guidance spread its light,
And the West is perfumed by your gentle scent.

2. O paradise of the exalted, is there a paradise,
That can guide to the exalted like your paradise?

3. Your spirit has expanded the chest of religion until it split,
The breezes cannot carry your fragrance.

4. Around you the rivers flow, their water
Rushing in waves above your banks.

5. The branches in you have thrived and reached
The mountain peaks and orbit of the stars.

6. And knowledge shone in the countries in its abodes,
Since it overflowed in the air of the countries your brilliance.

7. How many a youth attained the heights, after
He suckled the milk of sublime heights from your breasts?

8. How many a youth composed necklaces on his neck
When you filled his mouth with pearls from your hand?

9. How many a youth became lord of his people,
While his heart craves to see your face?

10. He praises you, while his heart is infatuated with you,
And his tongue murmurs, spreading your ornaments.

11. For you the heart of the merciful mother, who often
Forgets the affection of mothers for your love.

12. If people exaggerate loyalty, they
Have sanctified at ordeal your loyalty.

13. For how much you have helped time and diverted it,
And exerted for the aid of the weak your strength!

14. Or would the Easterner deny what you have bestowed,
Which immortalizes in the world your memory?

15. Or would the children deny your merit and justice?
They witnessed what your palm has generously given!

16. How many an orphan who was a burden on his people,
Became through your provision their imam!

17. How many an ignorant man who yesterday evening
Became a beacon for his country, having kindled by your favor his inner light!

18. He sipped the knowledges and his soul was sated,
Until he was satiated by your pouring rain.

19. How many a lost soul found the path of guidance,
When his eye was lined with your guidance!

20. How many a deviant did not persist in his error,
Until you stabbed his heart with your spear!

21. For wise philosophy, you have clear ways in yourself,
And an ardor that guides to your haven.

22. For science and literature, you have streets in yourself
That inebriate with the chains of their water your sons.

23. Watering those your eye nurtures in the darkness,
And guiding them to the glories your hand.

24. The gaze of heaven noticed you in the morning of youth,
And the time saved you from disgraceful stumbling.

25. You thus walked the most upright path in your world,
And did what pleases your Master.

26. Whoever follows the clear truth, surely
Will tread the aggressors underfoot as you trod your enemies.

27. O forest of lions! How many regiments
Marched to attack you beneath your banner!

28. Wading into the deep amid the herd of antelopes
Sheltered by your dense thicket from the bands of corruption.

29. Beacon of sailing, is there a ship
That sailed in our east but was guided by your light?

30. For you are our safe harbor, so if
The army of the insolent attacks, we take refuge in your protection.

31. And you are our impregnable stronghold, if
Our enemies one day come upon us in the fray.

32. You repelled the evils of souls, so they retreated,
And their troops dreaded none but your harm.

33. Disease may oppress with chronic ill, but it cannot
Wear you out, for you have cured it with your discipline!

34. You did not care for misfortunes striking as lightning,
And storms blowing about your pillars.

35. Your heart in calamities has been like a soldier’s,
Can the panickers frighten it?

36. O star! Its sublime beauty adorned the heights!
The heights since youth have loved you!

37. Your splendid traces are marked on
Our minds, shaming those who opposed you.

38. If the haters had no delusion blinding
Their eyes, they would esteem your stature!

39. Walk your course, guarded by the sublime,
For all rectitude in your course!

40. Endure what the sublime wills of the storms
They protect with their souls your pact.

41. Our eyes forever yearn for your meeting,
And our hearts find sweet your intimacy.

42. Our blood is pledged to your satisfaction,
And death is pleasant in your cause.

43. We ransom you, though lives be costly, but
We desire only to die as your ransom!

44. Your golden jubilee overflowed its light
Into every heart feeling your eminence.
