14. Your outstanding merit was pure as water
Protecting its roses from every picker

15. Your wisdom in dilemmas
When the light of integrity was obscured

16. Since you left, we have tasted endless sorrow
And the eyes did not savor sleep

17. How can the hurting eyes endure
When in them are the thorns of tribulation?

18. Are not the stalks culled
Before the harvest can be attained?

19. No misfortune made us sadder than that
The lightning of fate struck every refuge

Do not remove your robes of mourning

25. Lebanon, wisdom has died, attaining purpose
Lebanon, grave adversity has struck

26. The heart with tears, not with ink
Nay, engrave it in your breast

27. And make its frame deepest mourning
Lebanon, a father was lost

28. In afflictions, the pillar of reliance
When dilemmas grow complex

29. Who will reform the age of decay?
And when calamities thicken

30. Who will judge if justice fades?
My fervent heart yearns for a departed one

31. We lost our sword at the time of slaughter
If patience is difficult for his fate

32. The markets have fallen into recession
May God confer rest upon his burial place

33. An eternal reward for his struggle
And lodge him in the gardens of the most high

34. In a supreme station, recompense for strife
