1. Between a year now past and a new year ahead
Are lessons for the wise to ponder and read

2. The fool spends his life lost in empty delight
Enslaved by his whims like a helpless breed

3. The days go by, as we’re shackled and bound
By fate, with no control over where we tread

4. Leave desire behind, and live free, my friend
You’ll be remembered among the honored dead

5. What memory remains of one who lived as dead
Covered by sloth before he was buried?

6. The wise take pride in merit and character
Not in riches and gold that are ferry

7. Heroes pride themselves on their valor and fame
Not on glories retold from their ancestors

8. Do good, my brother, as much as you can
Though your heart be hardened like iron or lead

9. Have mercy on those worn down by sorrow
Don't let them despair, lost and forlorn

10. Each day spent doing a noble deed
Is worth more than a necklace of pearls finely braid

11. He who sows goodwill shall harvest the best
When the time of reaping comes, and debts are repaid

12. Years go by as people turn deaf ears
To warnings loud as thunder overhead

13. When time promises to make them atone
They scoff at its threats, no heed will they pay

14. They worship money, that false, fickle lord
It hardens their hearts and leads them astray

15. Of what use on Judgment Day, when it casts
Them into hellfire, forever to stay?

16. O slaves of desire do not transgress
Beware that you surpass not boundaries set

17. He who disobeys the Lord will be tried
Like the lost refugee, aimless in regret

18. He who is miserly is truly mean
Baseness itself is a miser's heart and head

19. What blessings the heavens have poured on these lands
By the grace of the Lord, the Most Generous, Most Benevolent

20. None has blessed us more than the divine
Could any kindness compare to life's holy breath?

21. This new year unfolds with abundant grace
So strive to fill it with deeds noble and great

22. Everywhere is such struggle and fight
As people crave wealth and aggressively compete

23. May God grant us after these wars
Lasting peace and goodwill our hearts hoped we’d get

24. For the world thirsts for harmony and calm
And yearns for affection that is true and complete

25. Those are our dreams, may we see them come true
As fruits borne in this our new year ahead
