Whose beautiful narration continues to flow

2. Patience, even if most of what befell you
Is remembered, garments of patience endure

3. I do not forget when kings carried his bier
With angels of heaven accompanying

4. And they walked humbly, so behold
A deed through which the humble grow great

5. Strange were we, though wonders abound
That they would wash him, pure and pure

6. Wondrous the hands that could touch him
Though he was a bright, lofty moon

7. Wondrous the grave that contained him
A perfumed, fruitful, boundless sea

8. Through him made glorious, thereby the world shone
None hope that grave could hold another

9. By him our cheerless lives grew desolate
And the meadows of beauty turned barren

10. In grief, pearls of tears spilled
When for him his noble mother wept

11. Glory and honor flourished for him
When that raincloud poured down

12. Knowledge crumbled as he departed
Upon them my ample greetings

13. With the two's passing I chronicled
The sciences wept bitterly for you, O Bakir
