1. Without pause I say at leisure
What is mine and love's, no toil

2. If I shun it, it comes to me
If I block it, it insists on haste

3. A ladder to the sky I sought
Or tunnel underground, if at dawn, love comes not with the lad

4. Yes, they cheer not the heart, if they pass
Hearing the speech of earnest, not jest

5. That is true, their cheer heals
Those in love, like the full moon poised

6. That speech by which speech is healed
And the cleft is repaired and the brace of repose

7. That speech which dreams unveil
And dream and reason from it stay clear of fault

8. That speech which endures, steps firm
Healing, manifest, essence unseen

9. It adorns the reciter, draws him near
And nearness to God and messengers, ever

10. It whose enemy is distanced
In blindness and delusion, to eyes unseeing

11. It is the proof, the argument, its grip
Is firm, so adhere to it, holding fast

12. Wise reminder, straight path, guidance
Other than its guidance leads astray into error

13. To its reader, it beams with merciful eye
Draws him near, eternally, with no divorce

14. It brings him close to the Most High station
Honors him with the seat of truth, by the Owner of Hope

15. It illuminates his heart and form with guidance
And light in his grave, a lamp in celebration

16. In it are tidings of what was before us
Tidings of what is after and between us and past

17. No scholar nor creation is sated
Continuous marvel, though oft read, ceases not

18. By it, passions go not astray, nor tongues
See in it confusion, or call to tedium

19. Who says true by it, and acts
Is rewarded and helped, in word and deed

20. In it is eloquence, for a people whose care
Was worship of God, barefoot or shod

21. Without it no wealth, and with it no poverty
Intercessor and guide to two gardens on high

22. This, though tongues of creation were mine
And their knowledge, and minds, for epochs untold

23. In praising it, they'd not reach a fraction
Each to each, and worthier of weariness in refrain

24. How, when the best was said, and not neglected in it
And none can match it, ever, O timeworn souls

25. How have life, save by life through it
Sending down rain, multiplying the billowing dune

26. How, when it is God's speech, Most High, Most Great
And one given perfection, is perfected

27. I am a slave of God, Lord of all creatures
It is my means and rope, strongly braided

28. I am content with it, no rancor in my liver
Nor content with other than the march of caravans

29. Yes, I seek its abundant glory
And victory and might, in increments growing

30. And pray in full the prayer upon it sent
Upon the one it was revealed to, in revelation
