ولا تقبروني إن دفني محرم

1. Do not bury me, for that is forbidden to you,
But give glad tidings to mother of Amer,

١. وَلا تَقبُروني إِنَّ دَفني مُحَرَّمٌ
عَلَيكُم وَلَكِن أَبشِري أُمَّ عامِرِ

2. That when they strike off my head, though my head most they sever,
And hurl me, when dead, on the course I used to follow,

٢. إِذا ضَرَبوا رَأسي وَفي الرَأسِ أَكثَري
وَغودِرَ عِندَ المُلتَقى ثَمَّ سائِري

3. There is no more hope that life will delight me,
After nights of evil and days of crime.

٣. هُنالِكَ لا أَرجو حَياةً تَسُرُّني
سَجيسَ اللَيالِي مُبسَلاً بِالجَرائِرِ

4. There was a time when, had that been said to me,
I had not been able, as now, to deny it.

٤. لَقُلتُ لها قَد كانَ ذَلِكَ مَرَّةً
ولَستُ على ما قَد عَهدتُ بِقادِرِ
