1. I was told that after you, the fire was lit,
And the assembly mourned you, O Kulayb.
١. نُبِّئتُ أَنَّ النارَ بَعدَكَ أوقِدَت
وَاِستَبَّ تَعدَكَ يا كُلَيبُ المَجلِسُ
2. They talked about matters of every great one,
Had you witnessed them, they would not have uttered a word.
٢. وَتَكَلَّموا في أَمرِ كُلِّ عَظيمَةٍ
لَو كُنتَ شاهِدَهُم بِها لَم يَنبِسوا
3. And whenever you wish, you see a radiant face,
And an arm weeping for you, wearing a coat of mail.
٣. وَإِذا تَشاءُ رَأَيتَ وَجهاً واضِحاً
وَذِراعَ باكِيَةٍ عَلَيها بُرنُسُ
4. She weeps for you, and I do not blame a free woman
Who grieves for you with flowing tears and sighs.
٤. تَبكي عَلَيكَ وَلَستُ لائِمَ حُرَّةٍ
تَأسى عَلَيكَ بِعَبرَةٍ وَتَنَفَّسُ
