1. I praised and admonished people and blamed them,
And summoned good fortune, but it did not answer my call,

2. And I scanned land and sea seeking
An ally, but found no one of refined manners,

3. So who will help me rise early to the sublime
And invoke what I invoke and seek what I seek?

4. The cheek of religion is smeared with dust among us
And its face was not so smeared among our forefathers,

5. I was bartered for promises and their tears
Flow ceaselessly and show no mercy for an Arab girl,

6. Oh, tribe of Abdul Mudan, you are my uncles,
And Oh, tribe of Hamdan, O clan of my ancestry,

7. Will you not avenge yourselves from one who mistreats you,
With every rising and setting of sun in East and West?

8. I see you submitted and served the infidels,
And I know you do not submit to sin,

9. No more does Kaab excel in piercing with a spear,
And Hamdan saddle horses, O sons of refinement,

10. Call upon Hamdan and call upon Harith,
And rise in God’s cause, O son of refinement,

11. And conclude my words with a Muslim prayer
Upon Ahmad, the prophet sent from the Arabs’ clan.
