Is free of vileness, they are witnesses

8. Your creed is revelry and song
Ours, praise and glorification

9. While you repose in wine tents
We frequent the lauded mosque

10. When you walk among the rabble
The noblest walk with us

11. Hold fast your hands, I will not bend
Until your bearded face hides

12. I am a youth roused to vengeance
Against defiant truth-deniers

13. Death has endeared its means
To my heart, and turmoil is its fuel

14. I have an ambition that will not rest
Until the lions are stirring

15. Whoever is just to himself strives
For death at high resolve; few are so open-handed

16. The gates of Heaven are shut
Only the clash of arms opens them

17. How many youths shrink from that opening
When grappling with but a blade in hand

18. God does not hallow one who recoils
Or swerves in the charge

19. It is annihilation, inevitable
To meet it in the charge is sublime

20. Beware the array drawn up against you
Which will flood you with troops tomorrow

21. No escape will avail you
Once they appear in the dawn, no climbing aloft

22. Only retreat, and retreat's door
Is open wide for return

23. Then prayer, thereafter, for Him
Whose shrine the pilgrims throng
