1. Let me be, for I have the resolve to rise
And when I do, I will have no hesitations

2. How could I when my wings are now complete?
Upon them many feathers of support accumulate

3. My eyes have seen the leader and his deeds
His path of truth as truth remains upright

4. I had hoped to find a group
To which I could entrust the zealous aims

5. To free themselves of worldly goods and spread their ties
I would pledge to them like honorable men of dignity

6. But I found them, though Oman held them together
This year, so the foreigners may dominate

7. Finding none who desire, save those
Brought near by dirhams, debased souls

8. I turned the reins of mention away from them
And turned the face of justice from their aggression

9. I found for them excuses and bounties spread
With generosity, triumphs of nobility

10. So here I am, with wealth and troops and spears
Toward Hadhramaut, arriving in safety

11. Ask about me when I near it
And call among the brothers: where are the valiant?

12. Where are the people of discernment, knowledge and prohibition?
Where are the minarets of guidance and the landmarks?

13. Where are the protectors of religion? For religion is defeated
Where are the swords of truth? For truth is oppressed

14. Where are the caves of Muslims and their fortress?
Where is the refuge of Islam? Where are the impenetrable shelters?

15. Where are the charging steeds amidst the fray?
Where are the mighty heroes, firm and unbending?

16. Where are the men before whom wrongdoing cowers
Who do not heed the injustice of oppressors?

17. Where are the men whose eyes know no rest
When the corrupt beasts seize power?

18. Where is the refuge of the oppressed, who now suffer
The grip of a terrible, piercing affliction?

19. There, O noblest of men, answer me
With "Here I am!" from a roaring lion

20. And emerge in your loincloths from your lairs
At the call - turbaned, imposing figures

21. I imagine them on the day they pledged their loyalty
As judges of wisdom stood witness before us

22. I imagine them when religion's leadership was bestowed
Upon them, despite the evil omens of detractors

23. I imagine them, whenever a despised opponent appeared
That miserable dissenter they opposed

24. I imagine the sheikh of resolve, determination and defiance
Affirming them in the encounter, locked in combat

25. I imagine him stepping slowly before them
As war cries rose and the clash was set to begin

26. I imagine him, as God made his affair resolute
Charging as skulls flew around him

27. He is the one approaching every desperate caller
Drowning, shouting "Where, where are the brave?"

28. By the Graceful One, I vow to support him
My heart conceals for the truth its solemn oath

29. O father! Do you see religion vanquished
Debased, with no defender left this day?

30. You must rightly take revenge
As it is right for one like you, unwavering

31. O you who champions the true religion
And contested its opponents when there was dispute

32. One destined for war does not meet his end before his time
After his time, none remains but the peacemaker

33. So prepare yourself, do not let wrongdoing discourage you
For only the noble can end wrongdoing

34. And do not accept the counsel of the foolish man
Who though he walks the earth, is asleep

35. I seek refuge with the Benevolent from the opinion of an incapable,
Cowardly man, whose heart is sealed off from dangers

36. Who deters those who aspire to goodness
By magnifying what honorable men scorn

37. God forbid that I reconsider days of neglect
While aware that I have abandoned them out of boredom

38. As if the Lord of the Throne did not hate
Those who differ from His acts of justice

39. I say to the chosen man of contentment
As the Lord of all calls: where are the valiant?

40. One evening as we resolved while anguish squeezed our breasts
And found the distance hard, with tears flowing

41. My friend, there is no joy or bliss
Except what fate has made bitter

42. My friend, standing by your side
Was sweet, but parting now does not suit me

43. By my life, you have given refuge and granted victory
As the generous do when tested

44. What haven for humanity are you
When assailed by grave affairs of time?

45. I am certain none but you can defend the people
From the tribulations of grave events

46. Take my farewell, one grieved by parting
Farewell, though resolve and duty remain obligatory

47. And while you live, do not forget to recall
One whose memory in your heart remains forever

48. I will spread the good treatment you gave me
If one who concealed it chose to hide

49. Peace from the Merciful, from me to you
And His mercy for as long as God is worshipped

50. And may the God of the glorious throne
Bless Ahmed as long as truth remains supported
