1. Alas! How sweet was sleep amid the newborns,
And rest amid the lovely gazelles.

2. The pillar of religion is gone, guidance is erased,
The bonds of Islam are torn, O landmarks of glory!

3. No eye finds joy in seeing religion routed,
Nor does that eye find rest in the tomb.

4. No eye has looked with joy when its religion
Is feeble. Is there any helper from Al-Rih?

5. Truth saw itself defeated, so it took revenge,
And that rolled up its sleeve like an angry lion.

6. The one whom we roused from his holy war
Is the business of soft living along with braiding girls.

7. Ask him, do you see if time wounds him
Whether he strengthens his resolve or yields in times of crisis?

8. Or have the heretics tested him in war,
Yet he does not yield to the hostile disbelievers?

9. Rather, when they betrayed their pacts with him
He made them drink a bitter poisonous drink.

10. He dressed in the garb of awe and wore
The mantle of generosity - O Allah, what a glorious lion!

11. He grew up seeking glory, generosity, and knowledge,
So he attained high position and earned praise.

12. His ambitions aspired to the heights,
And he attained the stars of glory.

13. If his days had aided the sea of his determination,
He would have attained endless glory.

14. O my father, take it and keep it close,
It is of great value, unmatched in poetry.

15. I have made its meanings beneficial wisdom
For any understanding person seeking benefits.
