1. She came to me, her face veiled in saffron,
With the scent of incense in her swaying branch.

2. Stirring gracefully through her gardens,
Adorned in her garments as tears dripped like dew.

3. She chided me for abandoning the home I'd forsaken,
And the pleasures and charms of youth she did forbid.

4. I said to her, "My dear, do not blame me,
For one like you should not be burned, dried up, or scorned.

5. Rather, turn to the Merciful - does He not come
To weep at the plight of pensive maidens?

6. For it is not the maidens whose sight is lacking,
But sight itself falls short before their light.

7. And if it's said they are the blossoms, then
The sun itself bows down and yields to their bloom.

8. And if it's said they resemble suns and moons,
The houris are more radiant than the stars of night.

9. The Exalted said they are like rubies,
Like hidden pearls - and Allah is Most Great.

10. In them are the delights of bliss and meadows
Like those in the Gardens of Eternity they enjoy.

11. They enter wearing bracelets like their spouses,
For are not all in the Gardens of Eternity paired?

12. Their jewelry is exquisite, made of silk
And brocade, and green silk of the finest sort.

13. When one saunters, scintillating gracefully,
Her anklets tinkle as she sways and struts.

14. Eyes pursue her like stars in the dusk
When she emerges above the couch to look out.

15. Reclining upon cushions, resting her cheek,
Her unveiled face glows with ever-youthful charm.

16. Her lover embraces her, then with delight
Sips from a cup of never-ending prime.

17. He offers her a goblet embellished
With wine, milk, honey, and ruby essence,

18. With Salsabil and syrup as its seal,
With spirit, basil, and perfumed musk.

19. Rivers run through it, watering its gardens,
Gushing springs which effervescently spout.

20. Therein are vessels and cups of silver,
Platters engraved with every sort of figure.

21. It has abundant fruits of every kind,
And any meat of bird they might desire.

22. About this one, then that, strolls one immortalized,
Glorious with handsome boys at his beck and call.

23. The shade of bounty covers them, and branches
Of the garden rain down upon them in their bower.

24. Whene’er they wish for something, they need only say
"Glory to You, O God," and it appears before them.

25. In the verdant Garden are things beyond
What eyes or ears perceived or thoughts occurred.

26. No thrones or chambers were built in it,
Only "Be," and it became, blossoming in light.

27. Even if not of silver, chrysolite,
Amber, or musk, it's more resplendent and bright.

28. In it are humankind, cattle, angels, and eternity,
And every utmost joy that is pure and unspoiled.

29. There is no wrong, misery, grief or woe,
No sickness, blight, death, or resurrection.

30. Unlike worldly life that dupes those in it,
Felling those who crave it, though it mocks and jests,

31. Whoever does not renounce it sees
In his failing to do so, loss - the wise take heed.

32. For it lasts but an hour, just a chance
To profit or lose, succeed or fail.

33. If you find it hard to abandon passion,
Then for the enamored seeking houris there's excuse.

34. When one dives headlong into perilous combat
And attacks like a daring, legendary knight,

35. Excuse the gallant whose nature disdains
In the raging battle to retreat in fright.

36. Ask about him in Buzaqah's valley - did he charge
With his drawn sword, and was the valley his theater?

37. Did he plunge between rank after rank,
Leaving in the blood those who would him deter?

38. How he charged at dusk against armies
The likes of which no army had met before,

39. Nearly blaming all people when tested,
But praising the Chosen One when experience bore.

40. It is not the right hand's place to gain victory
However great the means at its disposal.

41. He is the Good, the Healer, the Pleased, the Pure
Who dispels the gloom - O you who make your choice!

42. O Son of Yamani, you are its support,
Its formidable, unassailable, rocky bastion.

43. Have confidence, seek God's help, take refuge in Him,
Arise now, the time for victory has arrived!

44. Do not take other than the Guardian as your ally,
For none but the Merciful has power to give victory.

45. When He wills glory for Islam, He brings it about,
And the nose of one disloyal to truth is humbled.

46. Prepare for it, knowing you are advancing
While those passionately opposed are in retreat.

47. In it you gain both worlds in full - none ever gained
Except Hellfire and disgrace which shall blaze.

48. You hold to a bond of honor and loyalty,
And the Guardian is your dismantling foe's vanquisher.

49. Before you lies a crown of glory,
Unlike crowns of worldly rule that fade away.

50. It will be dissolved by a healer emboldened,
A perceiver, reminding, persisting, prepared,

51. Resolute toward truth - his life each morn renews,
Though long in years, still ephemeral man's lifespan.

52. He did not face one tenth of what was faced
By the Guiding Warner, the Prophet sent to deliver good tidings.

53. May Allah, Glorious and Exalted, bless him
As long as the years, when the caller calls people to prayer.

54. I hope for its reward when graves everywhere
Are strewn about on Judgment's advent.
