1. I reached with hasty steps those who had turned away,
Yet my thoughts were not with those who had gone far and vanished.
١. وصَلْتُ حَثيثَ السّيْرِ فيمَنْ فَلَى الفَلا
فَلا خاطِرِي لمّا نأى وانْجَلَى انْجَلى
2. Nor did my sorrow lift from my heart
When the morning breeze blew in it forgetfulness.
٢. ولا نسَخَتْ كَرْبي بقَلْبِيَ سَلْوَةً
فلمّا سَرى فيهِ نَسيمُ سَلا سَلا
