1. It suffices him as merit that his knowledge encompasses
The immense, boundless ocean, a measure beyond knowing,
١. كَفاهُ فضْلاً أنِ امْتاحَتْ مَعارِفُهُ
منْ هائِلِ اليَمِّ لا يُدْرى بمِقْياسِ
2. The sea of sciences, next to which the swelling
Tides of knowledge are trifling, worthless in truth.
٢. بحْرُ العُلومِ الذي منْ دونِهِ وكفَتْ
خُلْجانُ عِلْمٍ وما في الحقِّ منْ باسِ
3. When the faculties, in their beauty and motion
Perform their functions well, the credit's the head's.
٣. إذا الجَوارِحُ في حُسْنِ وفي حرَكٍ
صحّتْ أفاعيلُها فالفَضْلُ للرّاسِ
4. If the noblest are challenged, their rule claimed
By another, the kingdom's still the rightful king's.
٤. وإنْ تُنوزِعَتِ العَلْياءُ وادُّعِيَتْ
لمالِكٍ مِلْكُها منْ غيْرِ إلْباسِ
5. And all of them are comets guiding to the faith,
So wrong not people's rights, entitled people.
٥. وكُلّهُمْ شُهُبٌ للدّينِ هادِيَةٌ
فَلا تكُنْ لحُقوقِ النّاسِ بالنّاسِ
