1. I called you to the affection which you avoided

١. دعَوْتُكَ للوُدِّ الذي جَنَباتُهُ
تداعَتْ مَبانِيها وهمّتْ بأنْ تَهي
2. And I said to the pact of union and proximity after
It became remote - and is my life serene while you are it?
٢. وقُلْتُ لعَهْدِ الوصْلِ والقُرْبِ بعْدَما
تناءَى وهلْ أسْلو حَياتي وأنتَ هي
3. He who smelled the atmosphere of youth lightning
And prohibition did not forbid him from it - how can he desist?
٣. ومَنْ شامَ في جوِّ الشّبيبةِ بارِقاً
ولمْ تنْهَهُ عنْهُ النُّهى كيفَ ينْتَهي
