1. When they saw that I was enraptured by her
And they were about to speak out of envy
١. لمّا رأوْا أنّني بهِ كلِفٌ
وأوْشَكوا ينطِقونَ منْ حسَدِ
2. I said to them, "Leave the lad be,
Let her coolness be upon my liver."
٢. قالوا الفَتى بارِدٌ فقُلْتُ لهمْ
خَلّوهُ يا بَرْدَهُ على كَبِدي
