١. ولمّا تَناهى وَرْدُ خدِّكَ نظرةً
وأنْشأَ في طَيِّ القُلوبِ هِياجا
2. Eyes yearn to pluck it, but sharp thorns of coyness
Fence it, forbidding trespass evermore.
٢. تَشَوّفَ سُرّاقُ العُيونِ لقَطْفِهِ
فكان لهُ شَوْكُ العِذارِ سِياجا
