1. I see that every ruin owes its collapse to Fate,
And has faded undeservedly, with no good fortune left.
١. أَرَى كُلّ فَتْكٍ للحاظ انْتِسَابُهُ
وَهَانَ مَضَاءً لَيْسَ فِيهِ لَهَا حَظُّ
2. Do you not see that the arrow is not properly aimed
Or hitting its mark, until the right glance guides it true?
٢. أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ السَّهْمَ غَيْرُ مُقَرْطِسٍ
وَلاَ صَائِبٍ حَتَّى يُسَدِّدَهُ اللَّحظُ
