1. As if I were the sun's disk at sunrise,
And the breeze of dawn had come from its heart.
١. كأنّي قُرْصُ الشّمْسِ عنْدَ طُلوعِها
وقدْ قدِمَتْ من قلْبِها نسْمَةُ الفَجْرِ
2. As if my breeze and murmuring were the cooing
Of a conversation of reunion in the time of estrangement.
٢. كأن نَسيمي والهَجيرُ مطَنِّبٌ
حديثُ وِصالٍ جاءَ في زمَنِ الهَجْرِ
3. Otherwise it is as the gale blew with raging tumult,
The morning of victory, but among the tents of the tribe of Nasr.
٣. وإلا كَما هبّتْ بمُحْتَدِمِ الوَغى
صَبا النّصْرِ لكِنْ منْ بُنودِ بَني نصْرِ
