٤. كَمَا صَفَّقَتْ رِيحُ الشَّمَالِ شَمُولَهَا

٥. تُهَنِّيِكَ بِالْفُتْحِ الَّذِي مُعْجِزَاتُهُ

6. Are extraordinary, none were stored except for you, for mankind.
You came to it while the eyelids were still heavy,

٦. خَفَفْتَ إِلَيْهَا وَالْجُفُونُ ثَقِيلَةٌ
كَمَا خَفَّ شَتْنُ الْكَفِّ مِنْ أَسْدِ خَفَّانِ

7. As the lightness of the palm from the claws of a beast.
And you marched against the enemies in it, taking the initiative,

٧. وَقُدْتَ إِلَى الأَعْدَاءِ فِيهَا مُبَادِراً
لُيُوثَ رَجَالٍ فِي مَنَاكِبِ عِقْبَانِ

The flags of victory extend their shades over every

٨. تَمُدُّ بُنُودُ النَّصْرِ مِنْهُمُ ظِلاَلَهَا

Your pledge of allegiance covered Islam with contentment,

١٢. لَقَدْ كَسَتِ الإِسْلاَمَ بِيْعَتُكَ الرِّضَا
وَكَانَ عَلَى أَهْلِيهِ بَيْعَةَ رِضْوَانِ

13. And it was to its people a pledge of approval.
And God has, through a fortunate and lofty kingdom,

١٣. وَلِلَّهِ مِنْ مُلْكٍ سَعِيدٍ وَنَصْبَةٍ
قَضَى الْمُشْتَري فَيهَا بِعُزْلَةِ كِيَوانِ

14. Fulfilled the buyer’s isolation with eternity.
And He recorded the rule of justice among its homes,

١٤. وَسَجَّلَ حُكْمَ الْعَدْلِ بَيْنَ بِيُوتِهَا

No cut of a cutter intercepted its crescent,

١٦. وَلَمْ يَعْتَرِضْ مُبتَزَّهَا قَطْعُ قَاطِعٍ
وَلاَ نَازَعَتْ نَوْبَهْرَهَا كَفُّ عُدْوَانِ

17. Nor did the palm of aggression dispute its curve.
God’s choice inclined to its good choice,

١٧. تَوَلَّى اخْتِيَارُ اللَّهِ حُسْنَ اخْتِياَرِهَا
فَلَمْ يَحْتَج الفْرَغَانِ فَيهَا لِفَرْغَانِي

18. So the examiner did not need an examiner in it.
No minute relations were diverted in it,

١٨. وَلاَ صُرِفَتْ فِيهَا دَقَائِقُ نِسْبَةٍ
وَلاَ حُقِّقَت فِيهَا طَوَالِعُ بُلْدَانِ

19. Nor were planetary mansions verified in it.
The aspects of affairs are obligations in your perfection,

١٩. وُجُوهُ الْقَضَايَا فِي كَمَالِكَ شَأْنهَا
وُجُوبٌ إِذَا خَصَّتْ سِوَاكَ بِإِمْكَانِ

20. Duties when they are specified to only you.
And whoever compared your generosity to the sea and life,

٢٠. وَمَنْ قَاسَ مِنْكَ الْجُودَ بِالْبَحْر وَالْحَيَا
فَقَدْ قَاسَ تَمْوِيهاً قِيَاسَ سُفْسَطَانِي

21. Then he equated a delusion, the analogy of a sophist.
And obeying you is the glad tiding of mercy,

٢١. وَطَاعَتُك الْعُظْمَى بِشَارَةُ رَحْمَةٍ
وَعِصْيَانُكَ الْمَحْذُورُ نَزْغَةُ شَيْطَانِ

22. While disobeying you is a dangerous urge of Satan.
Your love is the sign of happiness and contentment,

٢٢. وَحُبُّك عُنْوَانُ السَّعَادِةِ وَالرِّضَا
وَيُعْرَفُ مِقْدَارُ الْكِتَابِ بِعُنْوَانِ

23. And the value of a book is known by its title.
The religion of guidance is a body, and your personality is its soul,

٢٣. وَدِينُ الْهُدَى جِسْمٌ وَذَاتُكَ رُوحُهُ
وَكَمْ وَصْلَةٍ مَا بَيْنَ رُوحٍ وَجُثْمَانِ

24. And how many ties are there between a soul and a body!
The world is stingy towards you and the Most High guards you,

٢٤. تَضِنُّ بِكَ الدُّنْيَا وَيَحْرُسُكَ الْعُلا
كَأَنَّكَ مِنْهَا بَيْنَ لَحْظٍ وَأَجْفاَنِ

25. As if you are but a glance between two eyelids to it.
You built on the foundation of your sublime ancestors,

٢٥. بَنَيْتَ عَلَى آسَاسِ أَسْلاَفِكَ الْعُلَى
فَلاَ هُدِمَ الْمَبْنَى وَلاَ عُدِمَ الْبَانِي

26. So neither the structure was demolished, nor the builder ceased.
The Most High called upon you, so you were not heedless,

٢٦. وَصَاحَتْ بِكَ الْعُلْيَا فَلَمْ تَكُ غَافِلاً
وَنَادَتْ بِكَ الدُّنِيَا فَلَمْ تَك بِالْوَانِي

27. And the lower world called upon you, so you were not oblivious.
You were not frightened to plunge into the seas,

٢٧. وَلَمْ تَكُ فِي خَوْضِ الْبِحَارِ بِهَائِبٍ
وَلَمْ تَكُ فِي رَوْمٍ الْفخَارِ بِكَسْلاَنِ

28. Nor were you lazy to roam the wilds.
On the day of the encounter, determination shook from you

٢٨. لَقَدْ هَزَّ مِنْكَ الْعَزْمُ لمَّا انْتَضَيْتَهُ
ذَوَائِبَ رَضْوَى أَوْ مَنَاكِبَ ثَهْلاَنِ

29. The forelocks of pleasure or the shoulders of resoluteness.
When it intended, no glance of a fearful one diverted it,

٢٩. وَلِلَّهِ عَيْناً مَنْ رَآهَا مَحَلَّةً
هِيَ الْحَشْرُ لاَ تُحْصَى بِعَدٍّ وَحُسْبَانِ

30. And if it granted, no utterance of a grateful one exhaled it.

٣٠. وَتَنُّورُ عَزْمٍ فَارَ فِي إِثْرِ دَعْوَةٍ
يَعُمُّ الأَقَاصِي وَالأَدَانِي بِطُوفَانِ

The praiseworthy traits of your auspiciousness are more wondrous,

٣١. عَجَائِبُ أَقْطَارٍ وَمألَفُ شَارِدٍ
وَأَفْلاَذُ آفَاقٍ وَمَوْعِدُ رُكْبَانِ

32. For it the reeds of precedence in every field.
Loving him is an obligation upon every Muslim,

٣٢. إِذَا مَا سَرَحْتَ اللَّحْظَ فِي عَرَصَاتِهَا
تَبلَّدَ مِنْكَ الذِّهْنُ فِي الْعَالِمِ الثَّانِي

33. And obeying him for God’s sake is the knot of faith.
Congratulations, O Emir of the Muslims, for a blessing

٣٣. جَنىً حَانَ وَالنَّصْرُ الْعَزِيزُ اهْتِصَارُهُ
إِذَا انْتَظَمَتْ بِالقَلْبِ مِنْهَا جَنَاحَانِ

34. You were loved through the absolute Generosity.
You adorned the platforms of eloquence with one

٣٤. فَمِنْ سُحُبٍ لاَحَتْ بِهَا شُهُب الْقَنَا
وَمِنْ كُتُبٍ بِيضٍ بَدَتْ فَوْقً كُثْبَانِ

35. Whom the Merciful allowed from the family of Ziyaan.
Necklaces of conquest, yes, but their value

٣٥. مَضَارِبُ فِي الْبَطْحَاءِ بِيضٌ قِبَابُهَا
كَمَا قُلِبَتْ لِلْعَيْنِ أَزْهَارُ سُوسَانِ

36. Was too lofty to be called necklaces of slavery.
My Master, your love is my way to your sublimity,

٣٦. وَمَا إِنْ رَأَى الرَّاؤُون فِي الدَّهْرِ قَبْلَهَا
قَرَارَةَ عِزٍّ فِي مَدِينَةِ كَتَّانِ

37. And your kindness to me is my habit, by Your praise I am delighted.
I do not forget, despite the distance of horizons,

٣٧. تَفُوتُ الْتِفَاتَ الطَّرْفِ حَالَ اقْتِفَالِهَا
كَأَنَّكَ قَدْ سَخَّرْتَ جِنَّ سُلَيْمَانِ

38. Your hands. We seek refuge in You, O Allah, from the evil of forgetfulness.
So no denial of what you enabled for me from my loyalty,

٣٨. فَقَدْ أَطْرَقَتْ مِنْ خَوْفِهَا كُلُّ بَيْعَةٍ
وَطَأْطَأَ مِنْ إِجْلاَلِهَا كُلُّ إِيوَانِ

39. Nor disbelief in Your complete blessings from my glory.
However quickly I requited rights to their people,

٣٩. وَقَدْ ذُعِرَتْ خَوْلاَنُ بَيْنَ بُيُوتِهَا
غَدَاةَ بَدَتْ مِنْهَا اللُّيَوُث بخَوْلاَنِ

40. Indeed, You are my true Master and my Sultan.
You are my pillar, who when fate heralded my position,

٤٠. فَلَوْ رُميتْ مِصْرٌ بِهَا وَصَعِيدُهَا
لأَضحَتْ خَلاَءً بَلْقَعاً بَعْدَ عُمْرَانِ

41. Responded to my call with acceptance and support.
And cured my sickly days

٤١. وَلَوْ يَمَّمَتْ سَيْفَ بْنَ ذِي يَزَنٍ لَمَا
تَقَرَّرَ ذَاكَ الْغِمْدُ فِي غِمْدِ غُمْدَانِ

42. With the wisdom of One who did not await a critical time.
The turns of events betrayed me, so it bent

٤٢. وَتُجْفلُ إِجْفَالَ النَّعَامِ بِبَرْقَةٍ
لُيُوثُ الشَّرَى مَا بَيْنَ تُرْكٍ وَعُرْبَانِ

43. To kiss my cheek, then after my cheek.
And it disturbed me from my source, position,

٤٣. وَعَرْضاً كَيَوْمِ الْعَرْضِ أَذهَلَ هَوْلَهُ
عِيَانِي وَأَعْيَانِي تَعَدُّدُ أَعْيَانِي

44. And home of loved ones, and friends of neighbors.
My country in which I tied my keepsakes

٤٤. وَجَيْشاً كَقِطْعِ اللَّيْلِ لِلْخَيْلِ تَحْتَهُ
إِذَا صَهَلَتْ مُفَتنَّةً بِرَجْع أَلْحَانِ

45. And gathered my pride and raised my glory.
The north reminds me of it and bends me,

٤٥. فَيُومِضُ مِنْ بِيضِ الظَّبَا بِبَوَارِقٍ
وَيَقْذِفُ مِنْ سُمْرِ الرِّمَاحِ بِشُهْبَانِ

46. And it knew the traits of my delight from me.
And I hope not to awaken from the soil

٤٦. وَيُمْطِرُ مِنْ وَدْقِ السِّهَامِ بِحَاصِبٍ
سَحَائِبُهُ مِنْ كُلِّ عَوْجَاءَ مِرْنَانِ

47. When the dream makes it my home, the soil of my home.
My brethren changed against me, and disasters swooped

٤٧. وَجُرْداً إِذَا مَا ضُمِّرَت يَوْمَ غَارَةٍ
تَعَجَّبْتَ مِنْ رِيحٍ تُقَادُ بأرْسَانِ

48. Against me, various troubles of many colors.
And I did not know, before they disguised themselves,

٤٨. تُسَابِقُ ظِلْمَانَ الفَلاَةِ بِمِثْلِهَا
وَتُذْعِرُ غِزْلاَنَ الرِّمالِ بِغِزْلاَنِ

49. That my confidants were thegathering of my betrayers.
And my deeds, when fate determined its making

٤٩. وَدُونَ مَهَبِّ الْعَزْمِ مِنْكَ قَوَاضِبٌ
أَبَى النَّصْرُ يَوْماً أَنْ تُلِمَّ بِأَجْفَانِ

50. Were against me in what I do not approve, the evilest of my supporters.
So had it not been for You, after God, O King of the Most High,

٥٠. نَظَرتُ إِلَيْهَا وَالنَّجِيعُ لِبَاسُهَا
فَقُلْتُ سُيُوفٌ أمْ شَقَائِقُ نُعْمَانِ

51. When the trusted betrayed me in the stance of the guilty.
You spared me through intercession, bestowing favors,

٥١. تَفَتَّحَ وَرْداً خَدُّها حِينَ جُرِّدَتْ
وَلاَ يُنْكِرُ الأَقْوَامُ خَجْلَة عُرْيَانِ

52. Innocent, whom fate had cast in the stance of the offender.
If the people recognize Your right, they will succeed,

٥٢. كَأَن الْوَغَى نَادَتْ بِهَا لِوَلِيمَةٍ
قَدِ احْتَفَلَتْ أَوْضَاعُهَا مُنْذُ أَزْمَانِ

53. And if they are ignorant, they will trade at a loss.
And if they mix propriety with impropriety and fall short,

٥٣. فَإِنْ طَعِمَتْ بِالنَّصْر كَانَ وُضوءُهَا
نَجِيعاً وَوَافَاهَا الْغُبَارُ بِأُشْنَانِ

54. While You weighed with an upright, balanced scale.
And the sanctity of this tomb refuses its perfection

٥٤. لَقَدْ خَلَصَتْ لِلَّهِ مِنْكَ سَجِيَّةٌ
جَزَاكَ عَلَى الإِحْسَانِ مِنْكَ بِإِحْسَانِ

55. To be infringed by refutation or discounted by deficiency.
And I have slept away from my matter and alerted an ambition

٥٥. فَسَيْفُكَ لِلْفَتْحٍ الْمُبِينِ مُصَاحِبٌ
وَعَزْمُكَ وَالنَّصْرُ الْمُؤزَّرُ إِلْفَانِ

56. That stares loftily at the citadel of the Elite.
When souls draw near to God and hope

٥٦. فَرُحْ وَاغْدُ لِلرَّحْمَانِ تَحْتَ كَلاَءَةٍ
وَسَرْحَانَ فِي غَابِ الْعِدَى كُلَّ سِرْحَانِ

57. For the pardon of sin or the attainment of forgiveness.
Then my Master, You are the direction of my face,

٥٧. وَكُنْ وَاثِقاً بِاللَّهِ مُسْتَنْصِراً بِهِ
فَسُلْطَانُهُ يُعْلُو عَلَى كُلِّ سُلْطَانِ

58. And the confidant of my secrets and the proof of my declaration.
I stood over the resting place of my soul, standing,

٥٨. كَفَاكَ الْعِدَى كَافٍ لِمُلْكِكَ كافِلٌ
فَضِدُّكَ نِضْوٌ مَيِّتٌ بَيْنَ أَكْفَانِ

59. In the recital of remembrance or the reading of my Quran.
And had I known, above it, of a means

٥٩. رِضَا الْوَالِدِ الْمَوْلَى أَبِيكَ عَرَفْتَهُ
وَقَدْ أُنْكِرَ الْمَعْرُوفُ مِنْ بَعْدِ عِرْفَانِ

60. To Your most pleasing kingdom, I would have rolled up my sleeves,
And sent my soul to its utmost, except that

٦٠. فَكَمْ دَعْوَةٍ أَوْلاَكَ عِنْدَ انْتِقَالِهِ
إِلَى الْعَالَمِ الْبَاقِي مِنَ الْعَالَمِ الْفَانِي

61. My aspirations are beyond the limits, my hopes.
I read the poem of praise to You by 'Aasim

٦١. فَعُرِّفْتَ فِي السَّرَّاءِ نِعْمَةَ مُنْعِمٍ
وَأُلْحِفْتَ فِي الضَّرَّاءِ رَحْمَة رَحْمَانِ

62. So my performance, emulation, and perfection were valid.
So I strung for You these pearls from the sea of my thought,

٦٢. عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَبْغِي الْفَخَارَ بِدَعْوَةٍ
مُجَرَّدَةٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ تَحْقِقِ بُرْهَانِ

63. Differentiated in the beauty of order with coral.
The Messenger of God cared for poetry,

٦٣. وَسُنَّةُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْفَخْرِ قَدْ أَتَتْ
بِكُلِّ صَحِيحٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعُثْمَانِ

64. And how many arguments are there in the poetry of Ka'b and Hassaan.
By God, I have not fully rendered Your worth its right,

٦٤. وَمَنْ مِثْلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي ثَبْتِ مَوْقِفٍ
إِذَا مَا الْتَقَى فِي مَوْقِف الْحَرْبِ صَفَّانِ

65. But it is my capacity and the extent of my ability.

٦٥. إِذَا هَمَّ لَمْ يَلْفِتْ بِلَحْظَةِ هَائِبٍ
وَإِنْ مَنَّ لَمْ يَنْفُثْ بِلَفْظَةِ مَنَّانِ

٦٦. فَصَاحَةُ قُسٍّ فِي سَمَاحَةِ حَاتِم
وَإِقْدَامِ عَمْرٍو تَحْتَ حِكْمَةِ لُقْمَانِ

٦٧. شَمَائِلُ مَيْمُونِ النَّقِيبَةِ أَرْوَعٌ
لَهُ قَصَبَات السَّبْقِ فِي كُلِّ مَيْدَانِ

٦٨. مَحَبَّتُهُ فَرْضٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
وَطَاعَتُهُ فِي اللهِ عُقْدَةُ إِيمَانِ

أتَاحَ لَهَا الرَّحْمَانُ مِنْ آلِ زِيَّانِ

٧١. قَلاَئِدُ فَتْحٍ هُنَّ لَكِنَّ قَدْرَهَا
تَرَفَّعَ أَنْ يُدْعَى قَلاَئِدَ عِقْيَانِ

٧٢. أَمَوْلاَيَ حُبِّي فِي عُلاَكَ وَسِيلَتِي
وَلُطْفُكَ بِي دَأْباً بِحَمْدِكَ أَغْرَانِي

٧٣. أيَادِيكَ لاَ أَنْسَى عَلَى بُعُدِ الْمَدَى
نَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ مِنْ شَرِّ نِسْيَانِ

٧٤. فَلاَ جَحْدَ مَا خَوَّلْتَنِي مِنْ سَجَّيتِي
وَلاَ كُفْرَ نُعْمَاكَ الْعَمِيمَةِ مِنْ شَانِي

٧٥. وَمَهْمَا تَعَجَّلتُ الْحُقُوقَ لأَهْلِهَا
فَإِنَّكَ مَوْلاَيَ الْحَقِيقُ وَسُلْطَانِي

٧٦. وَرُكْنِي الَّذِي لَمَا نَبَا بِي مَنْزِلِي
أَجَابَ نِدَائِي بِالْقَبُولِ وَآوَانِي

٧٧. وَعَالَجَ أَيَّامي وَكَانَتْ مَريضَةً
بِحِكْمَة مَنْ لَمْ يَنْتَظِرْ يَوْمَ بُحْرانِ

٧٨. فَأَمَّنَنِي الدَّهْرُ الّذِي قَدْ أَخَافَنِي
وَجَدَّدَ لِي السَّعْدَ الَّذِي كَانَ أَبْلاَنِي

٧٩. وَخَوَّلَنِي الْفَضَلَ الَّذِي هُوَ أَهْلُهُ
وَشِيكاً وَأَعْطَانِي فَأَفْعَمَ أَعْطَانِي

٨٠. تَخَّونَنِي صَرفُ الْحَوَادِثِ فَانْثَنَى
يُقَبِّلُ أَرْدَانِي وَمِنْ بَعْدُ أَرْدَانِي

٨١. وَأَزْعَجَنِي مِنْ مَنْشَأي وَمُبَوَّأي
وَمَعْهَدِ أَحْبَابِي وَمَأْلَفِ جِيرَانِي

٨٢. بِلاَدِي الَّتِي فِيهَا عَقَدْتُ تَمَائِمِي
وجمَّ بِهَا وَفْرِي وَجَلَّ بِهَا شانِي

٨٣. تُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْهَا الشَّمَالُ فَتَنْثَنِي
وَقَدْ عَرَفتْ مِنِّي شَمَائِلَ نَشْوَانِ

٨٤. وَآمُلُ أَنْ لاَ أَسْتَفِيقَ مِنَ الْكَرَى
إِذَا الْحُلْمُ أَوْطَانِي بِهَا تُرْبَ أَوْطَانِي

٨٥. تَلَوَّنَ إِخوَانِي عَلَيَّ وَقَدْ جَنَتْ
عَليَّ خُطُوبٌ جَمَّةٌ ذَاتُ أَلْوَانِ

٨٦. وَمَا كُنْتُ أَدْرِي قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَنَكَّرُوا
بِأَنَّ خِوَانِي كَانَ مَجْمَعَ خَوَّانِي

عَلَيَّ بِمَا لاَ أَرْتَضِي شَرَّ أَعْوَانِي

٨٨. فَلَوْلاكَ بَعْدَ اللهِ يَا مَالِكَ الْعُلَى
وَقَدْ فُتُّ مَا أَلْفَيْتُ من يَتَلاَفَانِي

٨٩. تَدَارَكْتَ مِنِّي بالشَّفَاعَةِ مُنْعِماً
بَرِيئاً رَمَاهُ الدَّهْرُ فِي مَوْقِفِ الْجَانِي

٩٠. فَإِنْ عَرَفَ الأَقْوَامُ حَقَّكَ وُفِّقُوا
وَإِنْ جَهِلُوا بَاءُوا بِصَفْقَةِ خُسْرَانِ

٩١. وَإنْ خَلطَوُا عُرفاً بنُكْرٍ وَقَصَّرُوا
وَزَنْتَ بِقِسْطَاسٍ قَوِيمٍ وَمِيزَانِ

٩٢. وَحُرمَةُ هَذَا اللَّحْدِ يَأَبَى كَمَالُهَا
هَضيمَةَ رَدٍّ أَوْ حَطِيطَةَ نُقْصَانِ

٩٣. وَقَدْ نِمْتُ عَنْ أَمري وَنبَّهْتُ هِمَّة
تُحَدِّقُ مِنْ عُلْو إِلَى صَرْحِ هَامَانِ

٩٤. إِذَا دَانَتِ اللَّهَ النُّفُوسُ وَأَمَّلَتْ
إِقَالَةَ ذَنْبٍ أَوْ إِنَالَةَ غُفْرَانِ

٩٥. فَمَوْلاَكَ يَامَوْلاَيَ قِبْلَةُ وِجْهَتِي
وَعُهْدَةُ أَسْرَارِي وَحُجَّةُ إِعْلاَنِي

٩٦. وَقَفْتُ عَلَى مَثْوَاهُ نَفْسِي قَائِما
بِتَرْدِيدِ ذِكْرِ أَوْ تِلاَوَةِ قُرْآنِي

٩٧. وَلَوْ كُنْتُ أَدْرِي فَوْقَهَا مِنْ وَسِيلَةٍ
إِلَى مُلْكِكَ الأَرْضَى لَشَمَّرْتُ أَرْدَانِي

٩٨. وَأَبْلَغْتُ نَفسِي جُهْدَهَا غَيْرَ أَنَّنِي
طِلاَبِي مَا بَعْد النَّهَايَة أَعْيَانِي

٩٩. قَرَأتُ كِتَابَ الْحَمْدِ فِيكَ لِعَاصِمٍ
فَصَحَّ أَدَائِي وَاقْتِدَائِي وَإِتْقَانِي

١٠٠. فَدُونَكَهَا مِنْ بَحْرِ فِكْرِيَ لُؤلُؤاً
يُفَصَّلُ مِنْ حُسْنِ النِّظَامِ بِمَرْجَانِ

١٠١. وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ بِالشِّعْرِ يَعْتَنِي
وَكَمْ حُجَّةٍ فِي شِعْرِ كَعْبٍ وَحَسَّانِ

١٠٢. وَوَاللَّهِ مَا وَفَّيتُ قَدْرَكَ حَقَّهُ
وَلَكِنَّهُ وُسْعِي وَمَبْلَغُ إمْكَانِي
