1. When I saw the earth beneath you as worthless dust,
And saw your right taking me by the reins,

2. I gifted you knowledge whose acceptance
God ordained as the honor of mankind.

3. And I chose the art of medicine for his saying:
“There are two branches of knowledge.”

4. So knowledge of religions is the first branch of knowledge,
And knowledge of bodies is the second branch.

5. It saved my books from harm and came to my aid
Through my memorization done hastily and the insight of two minds.

6. And I assigned it to you for treatment, because
It is needed, unlike others, at all times,

7. Until the lifespan of nature is seen to reach
Maturity by the will of the Creator of the cosmos.

8. So spread through it a mention, pride, and increase
For its sake a reward in every place.

9. You made me remain, leaving mention of you remaining
To be recited in a school and hospital.

10. And you raised my status, so the one who decreed
For you loftiness and honor increased my status.
