1. My Master, O You of awe-inspiring, lofty majesty
Descendant of the companions, supporters, and family

2. Hear the words of one seeking no reward
Who has neither land nor status nor wealth

3. Nor slaves, horses, though he wears old garments
It suffices the hapless worn out soul

4. He sees matters have become confused for you, with no
Supporter or guardian to aid you therein

5. Until when a pillar has collapsed, it is said awaken it
And sincere advice is neglected therein, what negligence

6. So I gain neither worldly life nor the next
I have lost my words and deeds in futility

7. And You, my Master, have turned away preoccupied
With heavy rocks and mountains

8. Loads of plaster and bricks You alternate
And dragging rock slabs over wheels

9. In a barren, desolate abode, then among enemies
Of evil, whims, and terrors

10. How much potpourri do You lay down and spread
In a ruined dwelling or vacant house

11. Think not people are sleeping, their eyes
Gaze to You, so treat them generally

12. And eat their food, wear their garb
And set up traps for their game, deceptive snares

13. And avoid everything brought to You
May Your side be safe from saying and saying again

14. Take a portion of the matter and be moderate, beware
And consider for Yourself an army and wealth

15. And be cautious, neglect not the plots of one
Who comes near to You with intent to kill by treachery

16. You have been tested by the Merciful, examining
To see from You the deed of the Perfect Preserver

17. No hope remains for Islam after You
Except to put its group in the abode of decline

18. Their affairs are lost, their borders subdued
So look out for them a supporter in this state

19. You reckoned the matter easy to undertake
The necklace of God, know, one of burdens

20. None undertakes it but the trusted brother
Who does not neglect striving whether settled or wandering

21. So look out for Yourself and Islam in respite
And treat God with the scale, with the scale

22. And the matter is serious, so roll up and prepare for it
Be not fooled by illusions and hopes

23. I have exhausted my effort with what He has placed in my body
And my livelihood, religion, and children

24. Nothing remains from me, I have done
The advice of affection and utmost sincerity is best for me
