1. I said when my Master saw that my crop was scanty,
And the harvest small, my zeal for ploughing ceased,
١. قُلْتُ لَمَّا اسْتَقَلَّ مَوْلاَيَ زَرْعِي
وَرَأَى غَلَّةَ الَّطعَامِ قّلِيلَهْ
2. So that zeal today has dwindled and decreased,
My crop being scanty and my harvest meagre.
٢. دِمْنَتِي لاِنْتِجَاعِي الْحَرْثَ كَلَّتْ
فهِيَ الْيَوْمَ دِمْنَةٌ وَكَلِيلَهْ
