1. By Him in whose presence secrets are disclosed,
Had I not feared dire consequences, Iโ€™d wish ruin on my slanderers;

ูก. ุฃู…ูŽุง ูˆุงู„ุฐูŠ ุชูุจู’ู„ู‰ ู„ูŽุฏูŽูŠู’ู‡ู ุงู„ุณู‘ุฑุงุฆูุฑู
ู„ูŽู…ุง ูƒู†ู’ุชู ุฃุฑู’ุถู‰ ุงู„ุฎูŽุณู’ููŽ ู„ูˆู’ู„ุง ุงู„ุถู‘ุฑุงุฆูุฑู

2. I was made the victim of the young lordโ€™s tyranny,
Though none of my people rose to defend me.

ูข. ุบูŽุฏูŽูˆู’ุชู ู„ุถูŠู’ู…ู ุงุจู’ู†ู ุงู„ุฑู‘ุจูŠุจู ูุฑูŠุณูŽุฉู‹
ุฃู…ูŽุง ุซุงุฑูŽ ู…ู†ู’ ู‚ูˆู’ู…ูŠ ู„ู†ูŽุตู’ุฑูŠูŽ ุซุงุฆูุฑู

3. When I stretched out my palms before him, craving my due,
I was as one possessed, or stained with dishonor.

ูฃ. ุฅุฐุง ุงู„ุชูŽู…ูŽุณูŽุชู’ ูƒูู‘ูŠ ู„ุฏูŠู’ู‡ู ุฌูุฑุงูŠูŽุชูŠ
ูƒุฃู†ูŠ ุฌุงู†ู ุฃูˆ ุจู‚ุชู’ู‡ู ุงู„ุฌูŽุฑุงุฆูุฑู

4. Little did I think I would get nothing
But an unjust judgment from his unjust clerks.

ูŠูุญูƒู‘ูŽู…ู ู…ู†ู’ ุฌุฑู‘ุงุฆูู‡ุง ููŠู‘ ุฌุงุฆูุฑู

5. When the dirham gleamed green though false,
Passed from hand to hand, destiny revolved.

ูฅ. ู…ุชูŽู‰ ุฌุงุฏูŽ ุจุงู„ุฏู‘ูŠู†ุงุฑู ุฃุฎู’ุถูŽุฑูŽ ุฒุงุฆููุงู‹
ูˆุฏุงุฑูŽุชูู‡ู ุฏุงุฑูŽุชู’ ุนู„ูŽูŠู’ู‡ุง ุงู„ุฏู‘ูˆุงุฆูุฑู

6. Grief has brought forth from me the bile of bitterness,
And noble souls are tried by ordeals.

ูฆ. ูˆู‚ุฏู’ ุฃุฎู’ุฑูŽุฌูŽ ุงู„ุชู‘ุนู’ู†ูŠุชู ูƒูŠุณูŽ ู…ูŽุฑุงุฑูŽุชูŠ
ูˆุฑู‚ู‘ุชู’ ู„ุจูŽู„ู’ูˆุงูŠูŽ ุงู„ู†ู‘ููˆุณู ุงู„ุฃุฎุงูŠูุฑู

7. I recalled some verses satirizing one of them:
He had in beauty on earth no peer.

ูง. ุชุฐูƒู‘ุฑู’ุชู ุจูŠู’ุชุงู‹ ููŠ ุงู„ุนูุฐุงุฑู ู„ุจูŽุนู’ุถูู‡ูู…ู’
ู„ู‡ู ู…ุซูŽู„ูŒ ุจุงู„ุญูุณู’ู†ู ููŠ ุงู„ุฃุฑู’ุถู ุณุงุฆูุฑู

8. That cheek turned green not from fresh growth
But from the tears his tyrannies drew forth.

ูจ. ูˆู…ุง ุงุฎู’ุถูŽุฑู‘ ุฐุงูƒูŽ ุงู„ุฎูŽุฏู‘ู ู†ูŽุจู’ุชุงู‹ ูˆุฅู†ู‘ู…ุง
ู„ูƒูŽุซู’ุฑูŽุฉู ู…ุง ุดูู‚ู‘ุชู’ ุนู„ูŠู’ู‡ู ุงู„ู…ูŽุฑุงุฆูุฑู

9. To me the house of Ibn Marzuq is a treasury;
For mighty straits it provides the wherewithal.

10. If he but knew what pains have wasted me,
He would disavow how destiny has turned.
