4. Youth departed, so I cast behind it
Whatever was of flirting and foolishness.

5. Do you see me flirting after youth has gone?
It was my habit in the mornings when gray hair is my companion.

6. How can someone like me still have passion
When the gray hair between my temples rebukes me?

7. He has worn white and assumed the highest pulpit,
And turned to preaching, doing the work of the preacher.

8. The darkness of my youth used to cover me,
While today the dawn of my old age exposes me.

9. When the two newly appeared gray hairs whitened,
They were worn out by the garment of lifetimes, every gray hair.

10. Ask me about fate and its people,
Like one skinned asks about the wars of youth.

11. Ever-changing circumstances, so tell of their overturning,
However much you prepare a hand for toppling.

12. Leave all matters to their Lord when they afflict you,
The Lord’s bounty does not narrow for the sought.

13. The beloved may hide in its hated aspects,
Who hides the hated in the beloved?

14. Be patient with the distress of nights, they
Are like pregnant women who will each give birth to wonders.

15. Be content with a share you did not obtain through trickery,
Not every archer’s arrow hits the target.

16. The greedy falls prey, and how often in the mornings
Abandonment of devices is more beneficial than their use.

17. Whoever desires obtaining something before its time
Seeks the transition of something unripe and difficult.

18. So when you make patience the refuge of predicaments,
You promptly heal its cause with the physician’s medicine.

19. And when you seek aid against fate with the knight,
He will answer your call, the best respondent.

20. By God’s Caliph whose hand
Contains rain to water every barren plain.

21. The chosen from the clay of glory, one who
Was never an alloyed day with impurities.

22. He guides tribulations with his good fortune, leading them
Tamed, atop the hoped for destination.

23. And he sees realities behind their veils,
No difference between witnessing and the unseen.

24. From the family of Abdel Haqq, where
The channels of sublimity sprouted on every dune.

25. The lion of nobility, the horseman of honor, thus their position
Is with God between warrior and wars.

26. Whether the caller called and the shouter shouted persistently
They responded and brought about repeated reward.

27. Meteors of impact whose effect
Is proven through experimentation.

28. Whatever piercing stars you wish in its horizons
Appear with a white forearm made red with blood.

29. Their hardened swords smiled
While the atmosphere was frowning.

30. They are threaded with necklaces of loftiness and seek rainwater
Like spears, spout atop spout.

31. It waters the heights through them
The effect of newborn scattered rain.

32. Every reliable source, its origin
Is definitively or hypothetically flawless.

33. So Abu Inan from Ali a connection
To relay from Uthman from Yaqub.

34. They came as accounts matched originally
And so it went, thus is what is written.

35. Embodied from the essence of the Light that
Its sun was never subjected to setting.

36. Radiant from the horizon of Truth that
Is the light of insights and secret of hearts.

37. Say to time, as it smiled laughing
After long frowning and bleakness:

38. This is the call to truth whose codes
Collected from traces every wondrous matter.

39. It is the state of justice that encompassed the world
So sheep no longer fear the oppression of wolves.

40. If the Persian Kisra glimpsed this knight
He would cast his usurped crown to him.

41. When I lodged in his land reveling
I wished for righteousness and welcoming.

42. It encompassed acceptance, as if each field
Smiled with a mouth for peace, every cheek.

43. And I came in the sea of towns, the mother of towns,
Until I docked at the harbor of kinship.

44. So I saw God’s order under the shade of piety
And justice beneath an established canopy.

45. And I saw God’s sword sharpened and swift
Judgment takes its course by its feared blade.

46. And I witnessed God’s light, an unsetting
Religion and world upon arrangement.

47. And I reached the sea of knowledge, its waves
Gift people pearls of guidance in types.

48. To God belong praiseworthy traits like meadow flowers
Whose gathered fragrance is poured out.

49. And the beauty of an awe-inspiring garment
Like a polished Frankish sword, revered.

50. O paradise I departed from its rooms
The abode of settledness through what my sins necessitated.

51. I grieve over what I lost of fortune through it
Its comforts will not cease, and neither will my lament.

52. If the sun rose my tears rose in mourning
And pour at sunset in my times of setting.

53. I taught the night visitor my lament and the dove at dawn my sorrows,
While the witnessing of sincerity assures my return

54. To its bliss without soiling by sins.
O supporter of the estranged land and its people,

55. Shelter for one feeling alienated and distraught.
Realize the hopes of your children in you, for they

56. Take pretext in your promised return.
Darkness of disbelief shadowed their horizons,

57. Is not your dawn near to them?
So observe with the eye of might from the border of tomorrow,

58. Beware the enemy lies in wait with a dubious glance.
Andulus called you and your glory guarantees

59. Not to disappoint what is sought from you.
The enemy usurped its land and your hardened sword

60. The old untarnished blade restoring what was seized.
Show it the swimming horses in battle, in reality,

61. From every sitting enemy and adjacent foe.
The trained horse yearns over it

62. And the mare answers the neigh of the noble.
And victory smiles at each glimpse of dawn

63. And opening is guaranteed by every cause.
And you presented the enemy’s spoils, then another

64. For the obligation of victory, necessary.
And when the separation of your sword came between them,

65. Your measurement’s two halves, you obtained what you sought.
And Satan denounced when he saw

66. The party of truth from his defeated party.
The land is inheritance and ambitions are all

67. Coveting, each pouncing to seek a share.
And the Caliphs of piety are its inheritors

68. So to you belong the fortune and inheritance.
It is as if I see you left its expanse

69. Desolate by advance and pursuit.
And you held a funeral in it, but it

70. Is a wedding to scatter in the wilderness and wolf.
You left it behind with an obligatory heart,

71. Ruined, a cheek by evening invited.
Its mourning caravans weep and transmit footsteps

72. From the disability of an oppressor to the disability of a cross.
God made the house a station for those praying through you,

73. And you are the best rewarder.
When you are mentioned, it is as if the breeze of morning

74. Swayed gently with a pleasing fragrance.
If not for the universe's connection to the meaning

75. Too lofty for minds to reach its hidden secret,
We would say to your world you ennobled

76. That the simple envied the merit of the complex.
And for your drop its sun and its stars

77. Inclined from dawning to setting.
It dawns from its horizon silvery

78. And sets by you while melting away.
My master, my longing for you shakes me

79. And the fire exposes the passion of perfumed wood.
I prolonged them with your ornaments and rectified them,

80. Though many are prolonged but not improved.
I tasked my thoughts with the duty of their obviousness,

81. So they fulfilled with immediate order and arrangement.
I made it easy although I introduced it gently

82. From everything uncouth with every well-mannered.
It feared your station so I tamed its difficulties

83. Until it became tame through training.
If I came close in adjusting it

84. Approaching is needed in adjustment.
My excuse for my shortcoming and incapacity negates

85. And grace from you overlooks reproach.
My excuse did not draw near to God through you in devotion

86. It is from proximity to God, not nearing.
By God I did not conceal my love out of fear

87. Except my breaths about me speak of me.
My poetry in you is the poetry of a lover

88. Though composition is inspired and talent a noble steed.
So accept it between refined and refinement

89. Although I presented it simply and gently
From everything uncouth with utmost civility

90. It feared your station, so I accustomed it to training
Until it became compliant to direction

91. If I came close in arranging it
Approaching is required in organization

92. My shortcoming and incapacity are absolving
While grace from you rises above rebuke

93. I did not come near God through you in devotion
That is from God's closeness, not nearing

94. By God, I concealed not my love out of fear
Except my breaths about me speak of me

95. I proclaim in your loftiness, but my poetry in you
Is the poetry of a lover, though inspired art

96. Nature is fertile, and talent a noble steed
So accept it between refined and refinement.
