1. O lion of the battlefield, unrelenting,
When swords flash beneath armor,
١. أَيَا سَبُعَ الْميدَانِ غَيْرَ مُدَافعٍ
إِذَا بَرَقَتْ تَحْتَ الْعَجَاجِ الْمَنَاصِل
2. He whose affair is raised by Allah,
Chastity, valor, wisdom, and attainment.
٢. وَمَنْ شَأْنُهُ وَاللَّهُ يَرْفَعُ شَأْنَهُ
عَفَافٌ وَإِقْدَامٌ وَحَزْمٌ وَنَائِلُ
3. I congratulate you, or is the ministry made fortunate?
It is ennobled by you, abundantly sufficient.
٣. أُهنِّيكَ أَمْ تُهْنَى الْوَزَارَةُ إِنَّهَا
أَنَافَ عَلَيْهَا مِنْكَ كَافٍ وَكَافٍلُ
4. If they belittled you as meager, yet it
Is belittlement of esteem, pride its result.
٤. لَئِنْ صَغَّرُوا مِنْكَ السُّبَيْعَ فَإِنَّهُ
لَتَصْغِيرُ تَعْظِيمٍ بِهِ الْفَخرُ حَاصِلُ
5. As they did with death, though its affair
Is momentous, from it hands tremble.
٥. كَمَا فَعَلُوا فِي الْمَوْتِ وَالْخَطْبُ خَطْبُهُ
دُوَيْهِيَّةٌ تَصْفرُّ مِنْهَا الأَنَامِلُ
