The sword and the pen have continued to pride themselves on it

11. So prepare for it the horses adorned at their stables
The outstanding coats of armor harbor malice against cowards

12. And recall in its hearing the most wondrous feats
So that its face may smile at you

13. And whenever its powers and influence grew
Make its assemblies at every party all perfection

14. And let the people frequently discuss in its councils
Politics, proverbs and wisdom

15. Until when its powers and influence fully grew
Excelling, guarding the thickets of the forests bravely

16. Then drive away with it disbelief to its remotest refuge
And raise up the religion from behind and from the front

17. So that his praiseworthy traits from his pure father
Who is well-mannered, shines through it

18. And who is like Joseph in ruling kingdoms among kings
Characterized by forbearance, resolute, and dignified

19. Raising its prominence from its elite supporters
In a group well-organized like spear shafts in rows

20. Successors who never ceased to be candid
With justice against injustice or light against darkness

21. The first to lofty goals if they raced
And the speakers of the merit of wisdom in speech

22. From every most remarkable downpour if the clouds
Of the sky were stingy and the pouring rains sparse

23. His hands took the place of rain and his call
Restraining negligence stood in place of beneficial traditions

24. And the living after exhaustion became
Watered from the snorting of horses and cattle

25. O King, the affliction from which the lands were protected
By a defender against vulnerabilities

26. It confounded them with fear and its sides shuddered
While its inhabitants were flesh over bones

27. Yet after the fear they have become safe
In the shade of your kingdom, as safe as birds in a sanctuary

28. If Zuheir had seen you he would not have regretted
Not living to the end of time in old age

The days of your peace, he would not care for one with well being

30. So congratulate the rise of renewed good fortune
For the Sa’d tribe with fresh glory, endless

31. You remain in the shade of an everlasting kingdom
With time under your control and days like servants

32. And may your progeny last, protected by an eye
From God that never sleeps or slumbers

33. Until you see the army wage war beneath its banner
With strong determination, supported against the nations

34. With newcomers streaming in and deputations flooding
And pilgrims continuously coming and going in crowds

35. My Lord, I have pacts in the kingdom preceding me
While you are the most generous keeper of pacts

36. I have no tongue for what you have bestowed of favors
Nor equal to what you have granted of blessings
