1. I was preoccupied with the Day of Reckoning from the one whose means I was
To Allah on the Day of Reckoning is the mercy of his grandfather

2. And if I was remiss in fulfilling the duty of his righteousness
By Allah, I was not remiss in tending to his covenant

3. Nor was I unaware of the favors which
I made my tongue after them hostage to his praise

4. And if my capacity was too narrow to fulfill some of them
Still the expanse of his glory was not too narrow for excuses for it
