Between solitude and company, as pilgrims flock to sacred rites

3. With life adorning the garden in splendor
As flowers smile through their crevices

So beauty clothed it in a splendid robe

5. At night it hid the secret of passion
Had it not been for the suns of necklaces

6. The chalice star inclined in it and fell
Straight in course, fortunate in effect

7. A bird that flew by, no blemish but
That it passed as quick as a blink

8. When intimacy was sweet at dawn
Morning attacked like guards

9. Stars disappeared, or maybe
The narcissus eyes affected them

10. What can one do, when the garden is established
Flowers are plucked arbitrarily

11. Safe from the schemes it avoids
When water whispers to pebbles

12. And each friend is alone with his fellow
You see the roses jealous, cloaked in anger

13. And the myrtle sly, eavesdropping
O kin of the valley of life, in my heart

14. Is an abode where you dwell
Its expanse feels narrow for my fervor

15. I care not whether east or west
So renew the days of past companionship

16. And relieve your sorrows thereby
Have reverence for God and revive the grieving souls

17. Let no soul perish in agony
My heart is imprisoned for you generously

18. Do you expect the confinement to subside?
In my heart one of you lingers

19. With talks of parting, yet remains.
A moon appeared from the horizon joyous

20. In hardship of separation, while fortunate
Whether benefactor or sinner

21. In his love of promises and threats
Sorcerer of the eyelash, sweet of union

22. He roamed the soul as the soul roams
He shot his arrow, aimed and let loose

23. So my heart is torn by the predator
If he disappoints while the sapling's fervor melts

24. He is to the soul a first love
In love the beloved has no sins

25. His rule is obeyed, his order carried
Eyes judged it so it was arbitrated

26. No heed for the conscience of the weak souls
The oppressor and the oppressed were equated

27. The innocent and the guilty deemed the same
Why does my heart revive whenever the breeze blows

28. Returning in renewed fervor and desire
In the scroll it was written for him

29. That "my torment is severe"
Bringing worries and weariness untold

30. In hardships galore, unyielding
A blaze in my ribs kindled

31. A fire in the tinder of dry wood
Leaving no trace of my love but embers

32. Like the remains of dawn after nightfall
Surrender, O soul, to the judgment of fate

33. And spend time in remorse and atonement
Leave the memory of times long past

34. Between reproach and blame elapsed
And direct your words to the All-Merciful Lord

35. For His is the guidance in the Mother of the Book
The Bountiful, the All-Pervading

36. Lion of valor, full moon of majesty
Victory descends on him as revelation

37. Descended with the Spirit of Holiness
Mustafa, the chosen of Allah

38. The Self-Sufficient with Allah against all
Who if he ties a pact fulfills it

39. And if declares a thing establishes it
Of Quraish, of Saad's lineage

40. Where the pillar of victory erected stands
Where the house of victory protected lies

41. And the harvest of virtue harvested thrives
Passion is shade, shaded and outstretched

42. And dew descended on the planted
For you, scion of the Prophet’s helpers

43. He who if victory stumbles will restore
A way he dressed in such splendor

44. Dazzling the eyes with its luster
Rhymed in wording, meaning and meter

45. Said by one infused by passion thus declared
Does the doe know that the heart of a sapling

46. Is the sanctuary of a fervent soul?
So it flutters like the morning breeze stirs

47. Leaves in agitation and ferment
