1. Like Thamud whose faith was broken
And Utayyah and Umm Saqab forlorn

2. A she-camel for gods to graze the land
And drink around ample waters pristine

3. To her came Ohaymir, arrow-like in wrath
Demanding she be barren and hornless

4. But she refused to be cut or struck
And went on, her core pierced and torn

5. Her son Saqab saw her leave him behind
After familiarity and shelter were gone

6. He went atop a rock where lightning
Struck from the sky above the cliffs

7. He spat a spit that befell them all
Saqab's spit destroyed them, made them ruins

8. All were struck down except one survivor
A slave girl who escaped their dwellings

9. Sinifah was sent to give news of them
To Qurh folk whose dams were all broken

10. After her tale they gave her drink, she died
Our Lord fulfilled and gave little one

11. A year of crisis that makes men envision
Hearing the grinders though they ate no grain

12. They drive the camels to run the plains
Lest emaciated they would waste away

13. Lighting fires of sweet canes to stir
The seas, though formerly eating naught refined
