1. Oh what a night, before you a kiss
Takes the place of wine for my thirsty liver

2. If Islam forbids delicious wine
It won't forbid the wine of your lips, my Islam

3. Give me, so I may be sated, from your soft mouth a draught
For he who beholds these lips is love-sick and enraptured

4. And I was not one who drank wine, but
I will drink it if your lips proffer a cup

5. So do not deprive me of a fragrant kiss
That takes away the pains of my body and my ailments
