1. Is there anyone more generous than Saʿīd ibn al-Muʾammal after his death?
He suffices me, for I rely on him,

2. Has there been in any past age anyone like him,
A noble man hoped for in times of distress and relied upon in times of affliction?

3. So visit his tomb as you would (the tombs of) Kaʿb, ʿAmr, Jaʿfar
And Ḥātim (known for his generosity), a servant obedient to his lord, and take heed!

4. For this is the lord's most generous servant, by God,
The most noble of all the noble and the best!

5. Is there anyone besides him, of those who lived before his time,
Who, if put to the test, would prove to be superior or more open‐handed?
