1. You have built your house completely
Beautiful with mosque and shrine

2. Alas for her in secret, what was her crime
Do not leave her bare of tent poles

3. Her companions won what they sought
While she remains empty-handed

4. The soul does not forgive its due
Unless led to a sleeping place

5. Lament does not turn one from purpose
However good the purpose is

6. A thing may be improved if
Grace touches it, even if of skin

7. I do hope you build here
For God a house, elite of the guided

8. Remaining till Resurrection, pride for you
A banner seen like a lone flag

9. Flourishing in the Hijrah, its adornment
A necklace of gems and chrysolite

10. Consider the garden, what adorned it
Had you not shaded its slope and dew

11. Would it be other than a collector of its rays
Its beads before Ahmad

12. It had for him a sword cleaving the darkness
Even in the grave, a fortress from the lions

13. It had for him a palace in the lasting abode
A fresh, sweet Eden

14. Leave me be and what I said beyond zeal
Your house aspires to the sanctuary

15. Bewitched by the Lord, it seeks nothing
From you but its unique mosque

16. Passion has shredded its entrails
The glance, with tears, has not frozen

17. Yearning made it forget its teachings
Knowledge in it, a transgressing odor

18. If it related to the people, nothing of its keeping
Remained except "My mosque, my mosque."
