1. However I stayed silent and suppressed
And whatever sorrow my tears translated

2. You insist tongues of remorse
Confess what you used to mumble

3. As if you didn't ride the sunset of calamities
The likes of which one more valiant and eloquent

4. Yes, but grief that my heart recoils
Does not cease though time passes

5. And how many tribulations I faced with patience
Yet my patience did not fail, weaken, when crowded

6. And if contentment opposed its easiest repel
I’d still be patient with its hatred when intense

7. Whoever lacks beautiful patience
Will not find you, not one who lacks decline brings loss

8. Keep calamities away from me
So the lofty mislead, confuse, and shatter me

9. Each day in the sanctuary of glory it has a weight
Its causes remain devouring it

10. When it rumbles, threatening
The confused, deaf, vile follow it

11. Or will the days not wake up to change
And divert its calamities from me, does it vow?

12. And I asked about resolution wasted and madness
Obeyed, and the decisive sword may sharpen

13. So do not make the blame hurt his heart
You are one I blamed most

14. And did not see any resolution, determination or wisdom
To arbitrate the fate that befalls him

15. When will a person mislead, elude fate
With a trick before it decides and concludes?

16. If I were misguiding fate
I wouldn't have been foretold what is more wise

17. But one whose matters overpower him
Its Owner executes fate and finalizes

18. Nor did I fear my ambition would wane
And I'd become used to the most trying disease, pain

19. As if a star was making my soul ambitious
A companion of captivity or a disturbing weep

20. I wasn't content with baseness as a characteristic
While I am ahead of the tips of tongues

21. Nor did the shadow of defeat befriend my figure
How so when it parted from the sword, broke?

22. Don't you see the free finds death pleasant
Taking him far from humiliation though bitter

23. And throws himself into dangers wherein is loss
If honor within does not falter

24. I will make myself exposed to the refined
And throw myself to death, and death is most generous

25. In your land graze, or migrate to the grave
A stranger to the people is targeted flesh

26. I regretted while negligence brings regret
And who upon negligence does not regret?

And is hurt with bitterness yet does not fall apart

It would leave the edge of the sword and be torn

30. To words that refuse its resolutions
The rubble of lofty cliffs crumbles

31. Arrows that knock down hearts as though
Poison more freezing than snakes poured on them

32. The enemies do not know of my coats of mail
Whose sleeves the musk and blood moistened

33. A glorious star between the straps of its saddle
And in its clothes I hold the brightest Yemeni sword

34. When fate extends its edge of victory to him
He folds it back and fate's victory is broken from him

35. If events wound with its fang
And withdrew from him while the fang and tooth broke

36. You never saw the like of me angry while watching
Nor the like of me quiet and speaking

37. One shows the breadth of his mind through poetry
Announcing through it all that he concealed

38. It doesn’t matter if one did not refine his poetry
To own its rhythm, and another is choked

39. The horizons of the country are overlooking
Spending the nights while unharmed

40. Don't you see what it led and drove to us
The traditions of old and their slander

41. They took the examples forcefully leading them
So the most wicked of them bowed down

42. And said passion is awake and reason asleep
