1. Fearless of killing souls, yet he
Will shudder at the wearing of silk robes.
١. جَريءٌ عَلى قَتلِ النُفوسِ وَإِنَّهُ
لَيَجزَعُ مِن لبسِ الحَريرِ وَيَهرَجُ
2. A whim passed through his mind one day in love -
Since then the blush remains upon his cheek.
٢. جَرى خاطِرٌ بِالوَهمِ يَوماً بِحُبِّهِ
فَظَلَّ لِوَهمي خَدُّهُ يَتَضَرَّجُ
3. A beauty - eyes modestly avert from it, so glorious -
And deeds dispersed, divided from the unite whole, uncouth.
٣. جَمالٌ يُغَصُّ الطَرفُ عَنهُ جَلالَةً
وَفِعلٌ مِنَ البَينِ المُشَتّتِ أَسمَجُ
4. His face shone to the night in the darkness of gloom,
Then turned from dawn whilst night was jet.
٤. جَلا وَجهَهُ لِلَيلِ في غَسَقِ الدُجى
فَنابَ عَنِ الإِصباحِ وَاللَيلُ أَدعَجُ
